The Good Things
*Lots of good action scenes.
*Very excellent, solid filming style and quality. A vast improvement over its predecessor "El Mariachi."
*Not a bad story.
*It's well written.
*Not bad characters. Maybe not as good or memorable as "El Mariachi," but they are fun.
*Good music.

The Bad Things
*Ummm...

The Questionable Things
*A fair amount of absurdity. Some may like it, others won't.

This sequel to is a tremendous improvement over "El Mariachi" in terms of style, action, cameramanship, and overall quality. Only the story and characters seem superior in the predecessor, but are still fun in "Desperado." Anybody who enjoys action films should enjoy this.

The DVD has very good video and ... Read More

VHS : From Dusk Till Dawn
This movie contains a lot of violence and gore. However the acting and special effects are more like those of a comic book than a serious film. There is neither suspense nor horror in this movie.

VHS : The Muppets' Wizard of Oz
This movie has a lot of great qualities, but it's got a few flaws as well. The big one being Ms. Ashanti and her god-awful acting!

The story was, oddly enough, a lot closer to the original book than Garland's version was. Which was a pleasant suprise for me, since I loved the book as a child much more than the famous Garland movie. The jokes had me rolling on the floor with laughter, and I was pleased that the Muppets weren't afraid to continue to entertain their adult audience as well as the little kids.

Speaking of the adult humor, I am irritated to read so many angry comments about them from other people's reviews here. Especially from those who claim to have watched the Muppets since they were kids.

I can't help but question if they've ever actually ... Read More

VHS : American Cinema - 100 Years of Filmmaking
This series, which ran on PBS a few years back and is still repeated from time to time, is certainly the "excellent overview" that the previous writer said it was. Film buffs and certainly film students should make a point to see it. As comprehensive as it is, though, many of its main points have been made elsewhere (television changed the movies in significant ways; war movies changed profoundly after Viet Nam, etc.)...and it IS expensive. I would hope that academic libraries (especially those with film studies programs) and larger public libraries are buying this series. The demand is certainly there. As an individual purchase, well, if you can afford it and you're a big enough devotee, it should be a welcome addition to your library.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE!! It is just quirky enough for my sense of humor. It is also the first time I became a fan of Quintin Tarantino. If you like his warped sense of humor you will love this movie.
