VHS : Nobody's Fool (1994)
This is a gentle, small movie about small-town living and its citizens, particularly a blatantly unapologetic ne'er-do-well named Sully (Paul Newman) who has lived his life exactly as he wants to and manages, by optimism and the bonding in this town, to survive quite well in spite of himself.

Sully has co-existed with his former eighth-grade teacher for apparent decades (the great Jessica Tandy, in her next-to-last performance), living in an upstairs apartment and doing - when he remembers to - odd jobs for her as well as keeping an eye on her. He is constantly at odds with her stuffy bank-manager son (Josef Sommer) who wants Sully out of his mother's house; Sully is also at mild odds with several other people in town, including his ex-wife, and an uncredited performance by Bruce ... To those from the King of Prussia Area (like myself), there are references and allusions to places (VF park, etc.) and some interesting exaggerated portrayal of characters, some of which I had for teachers (Pat Schnure, Vince Valaitis)

To those not from the area, it is still a sickening psychological drama that will keep you locked to the TV for the full 4+ hours (ended up watching it till 3 in the morning). The outcome is known, but the choppiness of the plot keeps the viewer actively watching, trying to figure out what has happend, and what is about to happen. The end of the movie with the cases ties everything together to leave the viewer highly satisfied. For those who like intellectually stimulating movies, a must-see. For those who are more interested in comedy, thrills, or screams, ... Read More

First of all, what a great comedy!! How many people get sucked into buying a home (thinking it's such a great deal) only to find out it will cost them more than buying an expensive home to begin with. I love Tom Hanks and his performance in this film was great once again.

If you're looking for a good laugh and have had some fixer upper woes this is definately the movie for you!

"The Dream Team" to me is one of those overlooked classics. The plot of this movie is funny from the start. A psychiatist takes 4 mental patients on a trip to New York where he gets attacked and they are left on there own. Micheal Keaton is such a good actor anyway, but the four together play off of each other so well. It is just a great comedy in the old fashioned way. No filth and vulgarity that some people think is the only way to do a comedy these days, just a great lot-of -fun movie. Very worth watching and owning. Thanks Amazon for supply the hard to find movies. You are my only movie supplier!!!

Yes, it's a comedy, but it's just not funny watching 3 men act like silly fratboys with a baby.
First of all, it's irresponsible. It drives me crazy how not only does the mother not know who the father is, but the rest of the men don't remember sleeping with this woman.
That is just so irresponsible and annoying. Especially considering the day and age this movie was set in.
Yes, I am being too serious about a movie. I know, but it's still an extremely silly and aggravating film except for the adorable little baby.

This movie is a classic and well worth owning. I try to watch this movie at least once a year because I love it so much. If for nothing else, watch this movie to see Mickey Rourke as a young actor who had all the looks any guy could hope for. The acting of Rourke and Eric Roberts is great and they do a great job connecting in this movie. I thought that Daryl Hannah was the worst in this movie, but she doesn't really matter too much. This is a story about the two main characters, their loyalty to each other and trying to get ahead in a world you are stuck in. A lot of humor and drama highlight this film. It all looks great and the supporting cast (save Hannah) is terrific. This is a movie you can watch time and time again, as I think it gets even more interesting as the years go by. 5 stars for this, one of my all time ... Read More

I have been friends with a woman who is deaf for almost 25 years. In fact taught me to sign. I am now teaching deaf in a public school. My friend grew up in a residential school. Marlie Matlin's character reminded me so much of my friend, that I spent most of the movie crying. It was a wonderful movie! It really showed me some insight to how my friend grew up.
