Ditto all the great reviews here. I saw this when it came out, but why isn't it out on DVD? The top-grossing Irish film of 1998 can't catch a break from the ditributors here. What a pity.

VHS : While You Were Sleeping
Yes, I am one of "those girls". I can watch this over and over and still swoon over the sheer cuteness of a heartfelt comedy that happily takes the ridiculous in stride. This is Sandra Bullock at the top of romance game playing an orphaned subway employee whose crush conveniently gets mugged into a coma on her watch. What follows is a sweet comedy about a girl without a family suddenly thrown into one.

Even though this only came out on video, it is a great movie, and worth putting in your collection. It is my mother's favorite.

it's not trying to be some epic Scrocese film. it's a story about a couple of mooks who just screw up and lie and shine it when you call them on it, and their slow spiral down. you're a fly on the wall, right up close.
the handheld camera work is pretty amazing, really tight closeups on the characters, with a rhythm that just grips you and yanks you around, so much so that, when i first saw it in the theaters, when the scene finally broke you could hear the whole theater exhale. why is this not on DVD please?

this under-rated movie should be a classic holiday family film. I watch and taped this on the night it originally aired. As a military wife, this one hits home, for anyone with family members from this era, it will ring true with memories of their stories. It hits all the points of what life was like then, in small town America during WWII. I was thrilled to find it available for sale, I only wish it was on disc as well. If you buy 1 movie for your holiday collection--make it this one...

VHS : American Beauty (The Awards Edition)
This is one of my favorite movies and it gets better each time you watch it. You can identify with some of the characters in the movie and although it is dark and sad, it has a moral to the story and the ending was just amazingly done. Even though your sad for the main character, you still realize that his life had finished in a weirdly positive way. Hence the smile at the end. I highly recommend this movie. It should be in everyone's DVD collection and is one of those movies you can watch over and over again without getting bored. And it is not entirely always dark. There is comedy woven into the movie as well. Again, one of the best Kevin Spacey movies ever.

As a ballet dancer I enjoy dance movies, if they accurately describe a dancers life. I love this movie and that is not an exaggeration. It is entertaining and is an interesting look into a dancers world. However, it is not only for dancers. It is also a movie about young love, inner struggles, friendship, and finding ones self. It is a good buy and is worth your time and money!

I think this is another one of Gables funniest performances.Ive seen it a few times and enjoyed it everytime. It definetly is a must see for any Gable fan or anyone who hasnt seen much of Gable. True that the movie may not be very artistic but FAST TALKING, LIGHT HEARTED,CONFIDENT,FRIENDLY GABLE always does it for me, especially when we live in a time where movies have gotten very ''artistic" but lack everything else. I'm always charmed by Mr. Gables quality of an "easy going" fellow always taking life lightly, a great example and inspiration to me. Norma Shearer was also enjoyable to me and she does go over the top on the second half, however it is still enjoyable to watch her.Anyway I hope they release this one and the rest of Gables movies on DVD because I'm ready to purchase...
