Jane Tennyson is a fantasic cop. She is real life and always get her man. This series is one of the best Detecive series ever. I've seen most of the episodes twice and will likely watch again some time.

Top stars to Helen Mirren for her portrayal.

I have read around thirty of the reviews written for this film and all of them describe it as warm, witty, endearing, and gentle. All of which is, on the surface, true. The film can be appreciated for those qualities. But there is also a real darkness at the heart of this movie that seems to have somehow escaped most viewers. It is suggested most blatantly at the beginning in the short publicity film we see for Knox Oil. It is suggested further by the power Happer is demonstrated to have by virtue of his wealth when he orders his nutcase psychiatrist to be shot off his building. "Shoot to kill." It is suggested by the reassurance the minister of the town feels when he sees the jets flying overhead on their practice bombing runs. It's reassuring because their practicing means they aren't doing it for ... Read More

i loved this movie- have already watched it twice. i have seen other actors "portray" john, but this actor seems to me to have done one of the best, if not the best, portraits of john. the actor is very good at conveying many emotions, seemingly very much like we would think john may have reacted. mannerisms are amazing, but the acting depth really makes this a cut above the made-for -t.v. movie that it is.

the detail is spot on, for fans who are familiar with the scenes, clothing, etc. of the time periods depicted. at times the tableau is right out of a photograph, recreated. amazing. john and yoko's music is used in various ways all through the movie, to great effect. the heartbreaking ending is mostly left to our imaginations and our pained recollections of that night....

As one reviewer pointed out, the plight of the sea turtles -- fully grown and just swimming in circles in a much-too-small tank -- is a metaphor for the condition of the two main protagonists, who are middle-aged and trapped in the unfulfilling lives they have become used to. They hatch a plot to release the turtles back into the open sea, and in the process begin their own journey. If you hate this film, you are either extremely young, extremely fortunate, or have never felt the frustration of being in a rut. This is an utterly delightful film in my opinion, because it omits explosions and special effects and fast cars and focuses on lives people actually live -- and with a happy ending, too. Excellent on all accounts, and it definitely needs to be put on DVD.

5.The Lair of the White Worm starring: Amanda Donohoe, Hugh Grant, Catherine Oxenberg, Peter Capaldi

VHS : Dangerous Liaisons
Dangerous Liaisons starring Glenn Close, John Malkovich, and Michelle Pfeiffer star in this classic film. All three stars bring excitement, strength, and charmisa to their roles. Keanu Reeves and Uma Thurman also star as supporting and naive characters. Close is no stranger to playing an unappealing dame. I like this film but the language and costumes are too distracting to fully enjoy this old-fashioned film.

The film is thoughtful and provocative. Set in rural Northern Ireland a century ago, Sarah is strong, fiercely independent young woman whose will cannot be bent by society, convention, the community in which she lives, the church or the men around her. She is an unexpected heroine - starting out inauspiciously quiet and seemingly timid, then eventually blossoming.

The film is quiet and thoughtful, slowly letting the characters develop and reveal themselves. The scenery is beautiful, showing the coastal area of Ireland in both dazzling and dreary splendor.

The film's characters challenge the mores of society. In some ways the world hasn't changed as much as it would seem, and Sarah still stands out as a rebel against the fate of a woman and how she is judged.

What if Monty Python made a vampire movie ?

That would make a good tag line to describe this film.

And while our baddie is not a vampire, but rather a
snake goddess, a snake goddess with really big fangs,
you get the idea.

Hugh Grant, early in his career plays a hair-brained
dare-do-all. Catherine Oxenberg is his dumb,
blond bombshell girlfriend (apologies to Ms.
Oxenberg). And some awesome british character
actors fill out the entourage.

And how does one go about fighting a snake goddess ?
Why with Hindu snake charmer music blasting from the
castle walls over loud speakers and an angry little
snake-hating mongoose of course!

This is not your typical Horror movie with axe and
chainsaw weilding psychopaths. But ... Read More

The sets weren't top notch and the special effects were cheap. But the plot was both original and very good. Set in the underworld beneath London it shows us a world hidden from view, but one with its own rules and beliefs. I can watch it again and again and not get bored with it.
