Let's face it--most people (not all) want to see this, to see the beautiful and extraordinarily talented Yma Sumac. She is included in the cast credits (even touted) yet she is in it all of a few seconds. I agree with the other reviewer, she was featured no more than an any extra. And other than her, the movie isn't so interesting. What is somewhat ironic about this, is that Sumac's only other U.S. film, "Secret of the Incas" is not at all interesting except for her parts, as well! In truth, it was she, not Paramount, who decided she would do no more films.

Sometimes, Hollywood tells the truth--and this is one of those times!!! This is part of your United States Air Force history! Many of you might even remember some of these things, and you will understand a whole lot more than you do now! Real people, real events, and a real story! There is a real Air Force Base in Kansas named after this guy. An American Hero of the modern age that you may not have heard of, and a forefather of the USAF. Some people have an abiding fear of truth, though, so those people should not see this movie!!! Now, exactly what was going on when you were born???

Great movie! Cute story. Maureen O'Hara and John Wayne have a magnetic chemistry which makes this movie work. Chill Wills is always fabulous in his supporting role. Comedy, romance, love, stubborn pride, etc.
Nice romantic comedy with a western setting.

VHS : Mister Roberts
This movie is always on the top of my list. If you are a fan of the military classics, this is a must-have for your collection. Henry Fonda played this role in the play before the movie was made, so, his portrayal of Mr. Roberts is flawless.

The story is both heart-wrenching & hilarious at the same time. I, personally, cannot get enough of the crew posted on "The Bucket".

5.Chinatown starring: Richard Bakalyan, Faye Dunaway, Jerry Fujikawa, Bruce Glover, John Hillerman

VHS : Chinatown
Say what you will about Roman Polanski's personal life, this film is one of the greatest american noir releases of the last 50 years. Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway and John Huston are superlative. Jerry Goldsmith's score is moody and resonant, perfect for a story of this nature.

Screenwriter Robert Towne's great contribution to film noir is the subtle subversion of genre convention. Yes, Jack Nicholson is your rudimentary private investigator but his ability to accomplish anything by the end may be null and void. Faye Dunaway is set up as the standard black widow but the truth of her character is far from such. There is also the backdrop of the mystery: Water and power, which was something unheard of at the time of the films release. Then there is the matter of 'Chinatown' itself, which ... Read More

I purchased this movie for my parents, so I haven't viewed it! My mom was surprised and excited when she opened it for Christmas, though! I'm sure it will be just as they remember The Lone Ranger!

VHS : I Died a Thousand Times
I saw this movie back when I was a kid growing up at the local theater, double featured with "Pete Kelley's Blues" and sadly, I was too little to appreciate just what I was seeing. Luckily, however, I own both these great movies on LaserDisc. They are Both Great Entertaining Films.

But, this review is of "I Died 1,000 Times". A fabulous remake of "High Sierra", which originally starred Humphrey Bogart; this time around with Jack Palance, Shelley Winters, and Lee Marvin. Great flick from the early wide-screen days, with great mountain scenes, and great imaginative use of color for its time. And of course, a story to knock you out! I searched for many many years, asking everyone about "that movie where they shoot the guy, and he slides down over the mountain and lands by his old green car" and NOBODY ... Read More

VHS : Creature From the Black Lagoon
The Creature from the Black Lagoon is one of those classic 50s drive in horror flicks that abounded during that time. It is still fun and I enjoy it. The picture and the black and white is wonderful. I only wish they had included the 3-D version too. I saw that at the movie theatre about 3 years ago and that was fun!

VHS : Taras Bulba (1962)
Taras Bulba is a pretentious film with poor dialogue and phony characters. The only decent thing about this film is Franz Waxman's musical score.
