VHS : Gidget Goes Hawaiian
I am so excited I found this site.
When the movie came out, my friends and I went to the Theater and saw it 2 times. Then we went back the next day and saw it again.
I love the Hawaiian setting, it made me really want to visit Hawaii. I finally got my wish and went to Hawaii in 2006. I took a cruise and spent 3 days in Wakiki. I had intentions to visit the Moana hotel, hoping the Moana Room is still there, but I ran out of time. Does anyone know it the Moana room still exist?
I also heard that Debra Walley is deceased.

I will not go into detail on the show itself as others have already done so. I will say that this is a Rankin/Bass classic (with Art Carney from the Honeymooners!) that deserves to be given the DVD treatment. It's a holday show so profits for Classic Media should not be a problem. (There are a lot of Irish fans out there).

If you would like to see this put on DVD, click yes to the reveiw being "helpful" to send a message that we want this on DVD.

UPDATE: A new WB Box set is out (OCT 08), It is the same as last year's except that Leprechaun's Christmas and Pinocchio's Christmas, along with a traditional animation of Stingest man in town has been added!! Also, Jack Frost just got released as a seperate DVD!

What a sensational find! The film is a snapshot of a much simpler, and nicer time.

This was a well shot, lovely looking film - with a best-in-class-cast.

Suzanne is the focus here, and is 100% authentic playing a lady searching for meaning in her life. The stories of all the cast build upon each other, and ring true-- you do care.

This film was a benchmark, made at the end of the 60's with a sensitive touch. Excellent in every way.

60's star Donovan provides the haunting theme song which is used in several ways and tempo's as the flim plays out.

The yummy costumes are right-on for the period, and the shots of a very groovy Europe can't be beat.

For those that remember, UNIVERSAL liked this theme well enough to shoot a TV pilot ... Read More

I don't know anymore how many times I have watched this film over the years and it still makes me laugh out loud, shed a tear, and feel good all over. I hadn't seen it in a while so when I spotted a good deal on Amazon I snatched up the copy. Jan Handzlik is charming and mature in the role of Patrick. One of the most amusing scenes in the entire film occurs when the very young Patrick offers to mix a pitcher of martinis for his visiting stuffy trustee Dwight Babcock (Fred Clark). Not only does Patrick mix the perfect dry martini, but he engages Mr. Babcock in a thoroughly mature dissertation on the art of mixing the martini, finalizing his presentation with the exclamation that "Auntie Mame says always gently stir the cocktail, never shake, as that bruises the gin." Or something along those humorous ... Read More

I enjoy watching this movie over and over. Melissa Gilbert is awesome in her role as a Russian princess and to be honest, although I've always seen her in Little House and other series, I didn't realize it was her until I saw it the second time! She's great and so are the other actors...not to mention the shots of Russia and Paris....must see!
