VHS : Cross My Heart
This is a funny movie and well written for the part played by Martin Short. Some of the funniest comedic lines ever. I wish they would put it out on DVD as it's a lost comedic gem in my opinion.

VHS : Crazy People (1990)
Crazy People is a one joke movie, but the joke is given enough amusing variations as a very unwell looking adman Dudley Moore (in a part he took over when mystifying original choice John Malkovich walked out) starts designing honest ad campaigns and finds himself committed to a mental hospital alongside several benignly stereotyped cuckoos (this is NOT an attempt at an accurate portrayal of mental health) only to draw them into his brutal-truth-in-advertising campaign when the concept catches on. Some of the mock ads are great ("Don't go to France. The French are annoying. Come to Greece instead - we're nicer."), although there is one that falls horribly flat for modern audiences due to events long after its production - in this case a campaign for United Airlines stressing the dangers of flying but ... VHS : Aliens: Special Edition
This film was a staple of my youth. I was an usher in a movie theater when it was released in the '80s. The reactions I kept hearing from the crowd were amazing and now twentysomething years later it still is one of the best Sci-Fi films ever made. The DVD looks great and the sound is incredible but the special features disc is the treasure. The feature length "making of" documentary was very entertaining and informative from, casting, to set construction, to special effects and creature design it had it all. That's the kind of features I like to see not the ones where they all talk about how great working with each other was. But, to delve into character development and script writing what it took to bring James Cameron's vision to the screen, that's the good stuff. Forget all the other special editions ... Read More

VHS : Beverly Hills Cop 2
The original Beverley Hills Cop is one of those films that remains a cult classic because of the fact that it's such a product of the time it was made. This quintessential eighties style is carried over to the sequel, made three years later, and although part two; like many sequels, never quite manages that same verve as the original film - it still offers a good time, and anyone that enjoyed the first installment (and who didn't?) will probably have a good time with this sequel too. All the main players from the original film have been rounded up once again, with Eddie Murphy heading a capable ensemble cast, lots of wisecracks and some gratuitously over the top action sequences. The plot is, as you would expect, superfluous to the style of the film; and much of the movie is simply tailored around it; but anyway, ... Read More

Since I only paid .59 for this, plus shipping, how can I complain? The movie was fairly good and was in the condition as described - very good. It was one of those "what the heck" purchases.

VHS : Jerry Seinfeld Live on Broadway: I'm Telling You for the Last Time
I was completely satisfied with the dvd, it captures Jerry at his best. I was laughing from start to finish its a must have for any true fan of Jerry Seinfeld. A few of the bits in the show are recogonizeable from the intros in his sitcom ,Seinfeld, along with plenty more that reflect his career up untill '98. If your a fan of Seinfeld you must add this to your collection.

This is one of my favorite movies. It is a story of a man having grown up rich who never knew he was adopted. So he becomes ill and goes to England to find his Mother. The ending always makes me a bit unhappy, as does not really end, but otherwise I loved it!It stars Paul Reisner and Julia Waters.

VHS : Beverly Hills Cop
Detroit cop Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is in Beverly Hills for a few days to investigate the murder of an old acquaintance. Axel assumes the suspect is a local tycoon, but no one seems to believe him - including the police force, being semi-run by Ronny Cox (in one of his rare good-guy roles).

Axel comes into trouble with the law his first day on the job after getting thrown through a glass window by some thugs. He is arrested, and when released finds himself hounded by a pair of inept police officers around the town for a few days. After outsmarting them (in one of cinema's most delightful moments - ever) Axel gets hooked up with an old friend and manages to roam the streets looking for clues - which, of course, he finds very easily.

Before this film Eddie Murphy had starred in one film that ... Read More

VHS : Diner
Diner, Barry Levinson's writing and directing debut belongs to so-called "small" or "minor" movies and it indeed does not have spectacular locations, breathtaking action sequences or even dramatic story. As Kevin Bacon comments in the Behind the Scenes Documentary, "There's not that much of a story, really. What do we do? We drive around..." What the movie has is "a very honest portrayal of a group...of guys that people relate to on a very personal level." The different generations of viewers react to film with devotion and recognition, and Diner has become one of the beloved long time cult favorites. Based on its writer/director's memories of growing up in Baltimore, the film takes place during the week between Christmas and New Year in 1959, and tells of the friendship of five guys in their early twenties. During the course of ... Read More
