VHS : Yellow Submarine
Next to "A Hard Day's Night", this is my favorite Beatle movie. I thoroughly enjoyed Yellow Submarine when it came out in 1968. I purchased a VHS copy when it first came out in an affordable edition. I wanted to upgrade my tape to DVD. But, c'mon fellas, $25 for a 40-year-old animated film by Peter Max?

This DVD better come with blotter acid & a Nehru jacket from Carnaby street! Oh, and if I have my choice of surviving Beatle to deliver the disc, send Ringo! He knows "It don't come easy"!

VHS : The Silver Chalice
One of the worst films in this genre starring Paul Newman, Virginia Mayo, Jack Palance, Pier Angeli, Joseph Wiseman, Natalie Wood, E.G. Marshall, Lorne Greene and Alexander Scourby. The story follows the life of a Greek slave asked to craft a silver chalice to be used at the Last Supper.

Horrible performances and direction all around except for Jack Palance as Simon the Magician: I would give the film a -100 if Palance weren't in it. Given the dialogue and direction, it's immediately evident that those involved knew little about antiquity or anything about film making in general. The horribly fake backdrops leave the impression of a bad play rather than a movie. This is the film on which Paul Newman commented that it would be his last appearance in sandals and a cocktail dress: ... Read More

VHS : Joseph (1995) (2pc)
Magnificent acting, writing, directing, set design--the story is extremely compelling and the ending uplifting. It teaches many principles of virtue without in the least being preachy. There is much conflict, suspense, surprise, and believable twists in this absorbing drama. I watched it many times and learned many useful lessons from it. Buy it and enjoy it.

4.Bond: For Your Eyes Only starring: Roger Moore, Carole Bouquet, Topol, Lynn-Holly Johnson, Julian Glover

VHS : Bond: For Your Eyes Only
For Your Eyes Only is showing its age a bit now. At the time a hugely welcome return to basics after the leaden FX spectacle of Moonraker (the second remake of You Only Live Twice in a row for the series), it still holds up as one of the best of Roger Moore's Bonds, but its faults are much more apparent than they once were. Among them is the tendency to undercut everything with unfunny little jokes (a scoreboard keeping count of thugs Bond knocks out, Bond giving a bemused royal wave to pursuing thugs, and a horrendous cameo from a Maggie Thatcher lookalike in the end), some flat studio work (no disguising the fact that the mountaintop Greek monastery is just a Pinewood set), a dated Bill Conti score and a comic relief nympho nymphet Lynn Holly Johnson constantly throwing herself at a disinterested ... VHS : Somebody Up There Likes Me
Director Robert Wise helmed the great boxing movie The Set-Up , a work scathing in its depiction of the seamy side of the sport .Somebody Up There Like Me takes an altogether more positive view of the noble art and is a thorougly entertaining biopic about Rocky Graziano .Graziano is splendidly played by Paul Newman making his second picture ,after the debacle that was The Silver Chalice,a movie that could have strangled his screen career at birth ,so bad was it .
Rocky was born in the slums of New York ,the son of a boxer whose own career stalled through several losing bouts with the bottle .In and out of trouble with the law as a youth and into young manhood ,encompassing a strech in reform school ,a dishonourable discharge from the Army and a spell in Leavenworth .Rocky eventually finds a route to success through ...
