VHS : Breakfast at Tiffany's
The movie is a classic, just a bad one. It's been a while since I've seen it, but the other reviews really helped jog my memory. The movie was shallow and contrived. The main character of a movie should be liked by the audience, but Holly failed to catch my attention or respect. Her unhappiness and lack of self confidence is no excuse for her selfishness. I might have given this move a 3 star if not for the hype. The over the top praise this movie has recieved is unbelievable! I can't help being disappointed in the people who gave it a 5 star. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but still. I agree with a reviewer who wrote that Breakfast at Tiffany's is so beloved because Audrey Hepburn is in it and because the movie is in color. It's pretty irritating that some people would judge a movie ... Read More

andrew stevens (son of stella stevens) stars as philip kent in this first mini-series based on the john jakes kent family novels.
stevens is a french boy who learns that he is the title person after finding out that his real father is an english nobelman and heads to england to claim his birthright. his fathers family doesn't intend to let him have anything and tries to have him killed. this causes philip to flee to america, under the name philip kent , and gets him involved in the fight for liberty.
this is a very good show, even if it mainly plays like a soap opera, and stevens is quite good as philip. give this one a chance and you may like it.

This is one of Newmans best, because he plays a completely dispicable

person with no redeeming qualities. He has no scruples and no character.

It is a great departure for Newman and he does a Great job.

VHS : The Fountainhead
Technically, this is one of the worst movies ever made. The acting is stilted, the music is predictable, and the set designs are pedantic. Gary Cooper hated his interpretation of the courtroom scene. Ayn fought tooth and nail with the studio heads to have it filmed exactly as she wrote it. Unfortunately she won. The heavy hand of novelist Ayn Rand's script is evident throughout. Fortunately, the theme of the story, a man's uncompromising individuality, more than makes up for the film's shortcomings. Throughout her life, Ayn, (pronounced eye-ann), Rand, influenced by her childhood experiences in communist Russia, campaigned for the rights of the individual over the collective. Her novel "The Fountainhead" was her crowning achievement in this direction. Although her ideas did not translate into film as well ... Read More

Martin Sheen, Jack Albertson and Patricia Neal star in this film, with few other supporting cast members.

Sheen is a returning army corporal following the Second World War. Jack Albertson plays his father, a harsh, dictatorial man who is inclined to lay down the law in the household. His mother, Patricia Neal, is his long-suffering wife who manages to get her licks in. A dysfunctional family, to say the least.

The young soldier manages to sort things out in the end. It is not, really, a surprise ending: rather as happy an ending as might be expected under the circumstances.

They all played their parts well. Probably Albertson played his character ... Read More

.So I was watching the last lines of the movie "The universe grows smaller every day, and the threat of aggression by any group, anywhere, can no longer be tolerated. There must be security for all, or no one is secure. Now, this does not mean giving up any freedom, except the freedom to act irresponsibly"...and I'm thinking OBAMA has landed!

Synopsis written by John Sacksteder {jsackste@bellsouth.net}:
"Set in the 1950's, a woman (Zimbalist) appears 14 years after supposedly dying in a plane crash. She claims she never boarded the plane and simply used the crash as a means to escape her debutante life. Now she is ready to rejoin the rest of the family, except everyone is skeptical particularly as she has shown up just in time to inherit a fortune from a recently deceased grandmother (Dorothy McGuire shown in flashbacks). Contains nothing that would be offensive to anyone, but is probably too adult ... Read More
