this is the best in the three part series. it follows the book almost to a "T" and the acting is splendid. if you have children who are yet too young to read, this is a great way to share the ANNE OF GREEN GABLES experience with them.

this movie is TOTALLY OFF! and it skips a huge amount of time. the great world war (WWI) doesn't take place until Anne's kids are old enough to fight in tha war and get married. not when she and Gilbert are. so this story has nothing to do with that of ANNE OF GREEN GABLES. if you've never read teh books, it's a pretty good story. b ut if you have, don't bother. i wont even let anyone in my family buy it for me even though they know it will complete my set. don't bother with it if you are a true L.M. Montgomery fan.

I watched this Thanksgiving themed movie in the 1970s with my then elementary aged daughter and we loved it! I looked for it for many years before finding it on Amazon. Although we have to be satisfied with a VHS version, we were both thrilled to sit together and watch it again after all of these years. It a charming, timeless story with a wonderful message of kindness and generosity. The "Holiday Treasure" should be a must see movie for all families. Thanks to Amazon, we were able to enjoy it again!

This is one of my favorite Christmas movies from my childhood. It was shown annually on television for several years and I tried never to miss it. Having a copy of it on DVD is great. If you haven't seen this one, you are really missing out. It is a very "Christmasy" experience. I mean, it just has that "feel" of years past (it took place in the 40's). The little girl in the movie, Addie, lives with her Grandmother and very moody father (Jason Robards), who refused to let her have a Christmas tree because he has never gotten over the grief of losing his wife (Addie's mom) after Addie's birth. That's all I'll say for now (don't want to ruin it for you), but it is very good.

If I were able to actually rate all my Christmas movies, this one wouldn't make the top 10 but my wife and I would definitely watch it. Our Christmas season needs more than a top 10 so this one makes the cut. Yeah, the cinematography is flat, dull and dreary in places but cameras and broadcasts and VHS did have their limitations way back then. Time travel isn't always what I expected either. I appreciate all the other reviews because I get to do what I like best; speak my feelings. When it's all said and done that's about all we can hope for. If I tried to tell the plot, the rest of the reviewers have already spoken well. If you're an adult who still values the Christmas season and cherishes all those from childhood and have no intention of letting the kids have all the fun, then you'll enjoy a visit to the cabin ...
