Good movie and it's more believeable having a younger actress play a 6yr old Helen but the dialogue is almost the same as the other 2 versions albeit a little more modern on occasion. I was hoping for a fresh approach.

I enjoyed it just for the fact that a young/small child payed Helen instead of a 13 or 14yr old.

I remember watching this movie when I was about 10 and I haven't seen it in a long time but I still, at times, think about this movie. The storyline is great and the way Mr. Sullivan does this is very captivating and will touch your heart.

VHS : Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Kids
This a wonderful video which elementary school kids and adults can enjoy watching together. The animation style is very interesting and unique-- the series has a distinctive "look" which is appealing to kids.

It's interesting to read here that a lot of parents are having their babies and toddlers watch lengthy videos, and then are surprised when the little ones find these images scary or overwhelming. Parents need to use common sense.

There is also a great Miss Spider television series now out on DVD. Episodes are always based around caring about others, understanding their feelings, and being considerate. The characters are not perfect-- they make mistakes, etc. But in the end they learn important lessons about love, family, friendship, and how we should treat others. ... Read More

I saw this ages ago when it was on PBS, and luckily my mom taped it for me. I kept the tape, but eventually it wore out, so I bought a copy. It's a lovely tale, and I wish the actors had kept acting! A very talented cast. A young man needs to earn money for his family during the Depression, so he decides to work as a camp counselor (of course, he has to fib and tell them that he's experience; but he doesn't even know how to swim!). His mother makes him take his kid-brother along, and adventures ensue! A lovely family movie. Five stars!

Classic David Cronenberg film. Anyone who hasn't seen this one needs to get on it. Shows what a visonary he was back then and still is.

VHS : Substitute (1993)
I love the original SUBSTITUTE pictures with Tom Berenger and even all the lousy sequels. So I was prepared to pout when this one popped on my TV, thinking, I wonder if they are now going to have a female version of Tom Berenger? But no, this movie is cut from different cloth. It's still great. Watching it you feel like you've stumbled into some sort of previously unknown Brian De Palma movie. And Amanda Donohue, who never really impressed m,e before, save in her fearlessness in taking off her clothes for Ken Russell movies, is really wonderful in the part of Gayle Richardson, an ordinary school teacher in Albany (upstate New York) whose life goes topsy-turvy on her 10th wedding anniversary, when she discovers a strip of film in the breast pocket of her husband's blue sports jacket. Four photo booth pictures ... Read More

The remake with Charlton Heston is completely lacking in the charm the original movie had. It ruined a beautiful warm movie.
