VHS : Guardian (1990)

I saw this movie in the 90's on TV. It's a very stilish horror fantasy, by far superior to "Cat People" (1982). Good story, great performances of Jenny Seagrove and Dwier Brown and astonishing visuals.
One of the main elements of this movie was the ill atmosphere, the mistery that was surrounding the entire plot, which reminded me of Stephen King's "Sleepwalkers" (1992).
Another good element that increased the gore and the suspense was the fact that we do know nothing about the origins of this ancient supernatural force.
You mustn't miss this amazing movie!!!

VHS : Offenbach - The Tales of Hoffmann
A treasure! If only for the two rare and marvelous acts by the incredibly lithe and lovely Moira Shearer. The video quality is surprisingly good, also.

VHS : Personal Affair
This is one of Gene Tierney's most overlooked films. Being a fan of Gene's I love almost anything she is in, and this film is no exception. A very interesting story about the obsession of a young girl for her teacher. Gene plays the wife of the teacher and Leo Genn is the man being sought after by Glynis Johns (who was actually 30 years old but played a much younger person.)
The action in the film takes a surprising turn when the girl vanishes and the teacher is now the #1 suspect-
Great movie for a rainy afternoon!

VHS : Cleopatra (Special Edition)
I have seen this movie several times and purchased it to obtain the disc with extra features. The disc would not play due to something being on it that I was unable to remove. I would like to know if there is a way to obtain the extras disc without flaws.
Thank you.

VHS : Hostage
There once was a time when Wings Hauser would have played the leader of the terrorists that held a planeload of passengers hostage. His look of demented glee was the staple performance he gave for many a year. However now reinvented as a SNAG (sensitive new age guy), he plays the leader of the mercenaries who are brought in to rescue the hostages. We're told the government can't act because that would create a precedent for other "PLO splinter groups" like the Holy Freedom Party of Allah. The party membership seems to be in direct relation to the number of passengers they kidnap. And their choice of flight based on one passenger being the grandson of Kevin McCarthy, "one of the richest men in the world" (if he's so rich why can't he buy better spectacles?) is sheer coincidence since the grandson getting the flight is a last ... VHS : Beavis & Butthead Do America
Beavis and Butt-Head Do America was a big screen movie based on the t.v. series. Beavis and Butt-Head are pretty hilarious, they go into a lot of trouble in this film and I love every second of it. If you were a fan of the t.v. show then I highly recommend this version as well, you'll love it!

I like these shows where you jump back in time before computers, cordless phones, and pre surgery Liz Taylor. I just watched it for the first time on a hidden channel on cable. It amazes me that people are just as F&^%ed up in 1963. Everything is so timeless. I couldnt help but be sad watching the movie though. It pulls out that dark place in your soul that we try so hard to numb. You may need to open a window and let the sun in, and a bottle of antidepressants or ativan in hands reach watching it though. Or just make a fire, close the curtains and stave off suicide instead! Not a movie for christians even though there are catholics in it, just be warned. Peace out!

Excellent portrayal of the life of Vincent Van Gogh. With the inclusion of Van Gogh's actual work, it is a visual delight.

VHS : Robot Monster
This movie's tag as one of the worst ever made is worth paying attention to, but it's a bit misleading, too. As with those other worst movies - most notably Ed Wood's "Plan Nine" - such a grandiose insult tells you there must be something going on to make the thing worth talking about at all.

Yes, its monster, the Ro-Man, is put together from a bad ape costume and a deep sea diving helmet. Yes, it looks like it was shot on some empty hillside in the San Fernando Valley, its only set being the partial concrete foundation left over from some building removed years before. And yes, the inserted sequences of stop-motion clay dinosaurs and real lizards make for a baffling kind of narrative non-sequitur. But, despite how cheaply it's done, there's a certain . . . care . . . put into this movie's production.

First of all, ... Read More
