VHS : A Cry In The Wild
Am I the only one that's paying attention to what's on this page or are these reviews being sent to the wrong page? All the reviews I've read here are for a completely different movie! "Cry in the Wild: The Taking of Peggy Ann" is a made for TV movie (1991) based on the true story of Peggy Ann Bradnick's 1966 abduction by a deranged mountain man (played by David Morse) that led to the largest manhunt in Pennsylvania history. The screenplay was written by Durrell Royce Crays. The abduction and subsequent manhunt was also detailed in the book "Deadly Pursuit" by Robert Cox.

Coal Miner's Daughter - 25th Anniversary Edition
Great movie for family night. Cissy Spacek did a great job portraying Loretta Lynn and kept me entertained the whole time.
Anyone who loves music should see this movie and would know how truly tough it is to break into the music business; this movie definately shows what it takes to make it famous.
Anyone who was or is poor can associate with the story this movie tells.
This is not a documentary but it does show a lot of history on Loretta Lynn and is enjoyable to watch...definately not boring!

VHS : FernGully - The Last Rainforest
Having watched Fern Gully many years ago with my younger siblings, I purchased this DVD edition to watch with my preschooler. The story centers around Crysta, a tree elf who lives in a rain forest with her friends, consisting of other magical beings, and animals such as the radar-impaired Batty, the Beetle Boys etc. They find that their beloved rain forest is threatened by Man and must take the necessary steps to ensure its preservation.

The environmental message here is well-suited for little ones - it is not over the top and put forth in a fun way. The songs are fun: "Life is a Magic Thing", "Batty Rap", "If I'm Gonna Eat Somebody", "Toxic Love", "Land of a Thousand Dances". This DVD comes with both Widescreen and Fullscreen Versions, there are 8 set-top games & behind the ... Read More

VHS : A Christmas To Remember
I first watched this movie in the late '70s - my mom made me sit down and watch it. It was presented as a "Hallmark Hall of Fame" made-for-TV movie. As it turns out, it is one of the best movies I have ever seen, holiday or not. It will make you laugh and cry, and may even render some goosebumps with the point it makes about life. If you have not seen this movie, please give yourself a treat at Christmas and sit down to watch this movie with family and friends - you won't be sorry.

I know zero people who have seen this funny western movie. Too bad. It's not all that sophisticated, and it has some non-PC characterizations. But if your object is watching a movie just to have fun, this one has lots of it. The oracle stole the show just as cleanly as the first time I saw this film. The DVD is high-quality.

VHS : Summer & Smoke
Summer and Smoke has Geraldine Page as a woman in love with a young man next door. She lives in a parsonage with her dictatorial, repressed father, and a mentally ill mother. The film unflods and we see the tragedy approaching, and Ms Page becoming more and more aware of it, culminating in her final scene.

The lyricism of her acting, her gestures, her inner pleading, and her silences are wrenching and strangely evocative of how things are for many people..no hope left, but the edge that rejection and despair give to us in odd ways, making it possible to go on, in an aloien world, dersiring death as the next step that must be taken.

See this film with her, and witness greatness of the highest order. The rest of cast is excellent, especially Una Merkel as her mother, and Laurence ... Read More

VHS : Baywatch: Forbidden Paradise
Get ready for the cinematic experience of a lifetime... "Baywatch: Forbidden Paradise" is the Citizen Kane of the nineties. Impeccable performances, brilliant directing and breathtaking locations perfectly photographed. When I saw this picture (or two hour long episode special, whatever) I decided to drop film school for good, there's no way I can beat that. Now I'm making on air promotions for a Latin American cable channel.

Director Douglas Schwartz and actor/singer/hand model David Hasselhoff reminded me of cinemas greatest duets: Fellini and Mastroianni, Bergman and Von Sydow, Scorsese and DeNiro,
Josh Murnet and Tiffani Bissette (Vicky in TV's "Small Wonder").

Just picture it: Mitch, C.J., Stephanie, Caroline, Matt and Logan going to a peaceful vacation in Hawaii...well ... Read More

The picture quality of this DVD is excellent. The colours are so crisp it could have been filmed last year, not 1969. It was so wonderful to see a movie from my childhood - one which I haven't seen for over 30 years. This DVD title is not available in Australia, so it was great to be able to buy it from Amazon in America. This is the first time I've bought a DVD from overseas.(Luckily my DVD player is multi-regional). It only took 16 days from when I ordered on-line for the DVD to arrive in my mailbox here in Australia - for the grand cost of (incl. postage ) AU$16.47! - a fantastic bargain. Thanks Amazon.
