VHS : I'll Remember April
It had to happen. Someone in the well-meaning, simple-minded Hollywood Liberal community heard about the reparations paid to Japanese Americans whose property was stolen before being shipped into camps that were less nightmarish than the camps of Europe but not exactly fun either. These reparations happened not long ago, too late to help most of the poor, innocent souls whose lives were destroyed by this crackpot bit of social engineering. So, in that dreamy way of theirs, they looked out at the underpaid Japanese gardeners trimming their trees and watering their lawns and thought, "What a perfect opportunity for some mawkish, emotionally manipulative revisionist history." The result is this goopy, ponderous greeting card of a film in which America's war years are indistinguishable from lazy ... Read More

VHS : Faerie Tale Theatre: Little Mermaid
"Faerie Tale Theatre" productions are sometimes scary ("HANSEL & GRETEL") and often hilarious ("LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD", "THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA"). Rarely are they as touching and as poignant as this version of
"THE LITTLE MERMAID," directed by Robert Iscove from a teleplay by Anne Beatts.
You won't find any Disneyfied sea creatures singing a Broadway musical number under the sea; or a tacked-on Disney "happy ending" here. What we do have is a beautiful, live-action version that is faithful and true to Hans Christian Anderson's original bittersweet fairy tale.
The cast is superb. Pam Dawber's role as little mermaid Pearl, who sacrifices everything for the love of Sailor/Prince Andrew (the extremely attractive Treat Williams), is largely mute. So she must communicate ... Read More

VHS : Mork & MIndy 3 : Mork's Mixed Emotions/ Stark Raving Mork
Known to be a great ad lib stunt on happy days. Who would of known how deep yet, surreal this sitcom really was. Mork(Robin Williams) an alien from Ork. Mindy (Pam Dawber)a very lovely small town open-minded free lib daddy's girl, and this is where we begain.

Mork And Mindy (Vol 3.)
As funny and humorous Robbin Willaim is these 2 particular episodes stood out. In mixed emotions Mork gives you the basic instinct of real emotions. A he toch base with a rainbow of characters from happy the anger. Being that Mork is from another planet, by the way did I mention Orken's refuse to have emotions. It shows how talent Robin really is. Only a simmaly here; but it is the same genius mind that "Andy Kaufman" shows in "Taxi". Nevertheless, mork finds out that love is what true emotion the blance all emotions. ... Read More

VHS : A Mommy for Mindy/Mork Meets Robin Williams
When I was little I was a HUGE fanatic of the series (okay I still am, but that's not the point here) These two episodes showcase some of the best dramatic (and we are talking serious acting) from Williams and Dawber.

In the first one, Mindy discovers she has a major case of represed grief after learning her father is remarrying. Mindy's nightmare flash back scared the living daylights out of me when I was little, and it is still very sobering.

The second episode is more typical except at the end when Mork, lamenting celebrity, rattles off a list of famous people who died too young. Although Williams is a master actor, you can tell he slips out of character for a moment when he ads John Lennon with a crack in his voice. Imediately followed by silence (as opposed to the usual gag-signing ... Read More

VHS : Mork & Mindy Volume 2: Mork's First Christmas/Mork Goes Erk
First of all, the episodes on this volume were great. It's the quality that upsets me. The first episode ("Mork's First Christmas") was in pretty good condition, but the second episode ("Mork Goes Erk") was in REALLY bad condition! I'd rather get these episodes from someone who taped them off Nick at Nite or from the Canadian Comedy Channel.
