Far From the Madding Crowd: Masterpiece Theatre Still waiting for a DVD version that can be viewed here in the U.S. Will it ever come to pass? I think there is a big fan base here who would love to have this on DVD. PLEASE!!!!!

I thought this would be really good but it is not for my taste I really like 1800 movies and this is not up to it.

There have been many Anna Karenina adapatations but this 2000 Masterpiece Theatre production I regard as the best. Helen Mcrory is probably the best Anna I have seen. Stephen dillane who plays Karenin portrays his character in very symphatic light you feel bad for his charcter yet you feel bad for Anna in her loveless marriage. Kevin Mckidd plays vronsky and brings charm. And unlike other version Levins story is not cut out. Though the costumes are not as pretty as the 1997 version or the actors as attractive that does not matter this just a enjoyable tragic adaptation of Anna Karenina.

...In a role he'd probably like to pretend never happened! (But he looks darn cute, though!) For the kids, this is not one of Disney's better flicks. Plot is silly & predictable. Special effects are surprisingly cheap looking (especially for a Disney film). But there is nothing offensive to worry about as a parent, and it's a decent film to run on the DVD player on a raining Saturday when the kids are chanting "I'm bored. I'm bored." For Daniel Craig fans, it's good for a chuckle to see him in one of his very earliest roles (nothing like his usual edgy work - he must have had the rent due when this role was offered to him!) I liked the movie for the music and the costumes, I thought they were all great and nick stahl looked handsome as ever. As to the steaming pot and to answer some of the other reviewers answers about it. I think it had something to do with the cleansing of the well you know..........also it has been know to make the inside of a women.......hotter than normal temperature. I hope this helps any. I read a few historical novels and I had run across something like that.
