VHS : Native Son (1986)
I understand the perspectives of the other online-reviewers; however, being an English teacher, I have found this video to be quite beneficial and complimentary in assisting me and helping my students to understand the characterization and themes in Native Son. It is not an outstanding performance; however, it does offer a color cinematic version, while having actors that are recongnizable to a younger generation.

I do not believe that many outstanding novels can ever really be properly and accurately portryaed on film; that is really a daunting task for directors, writers, and producers. To this date, I can only say that The Color Purple has actually achieved cinematic success, due in large part to the creative genius of Steven Spielberg. That is a rarity.

I rented this video from library. This video is excellent and by far the best weight loss guide have ever seen.
I was extremely moved by this video. Anyone who wants to lose weight should watch this video. Not just for practical and true tips, but the way it stirs your soul and your inner self. The way Oprah delivers the message is very touching. No preaching here, just plain true stuff.

Have bought 8 videos, and given to all loved ones who are trying to lose weight.
A must watch for sure.

VHS : About Us: Dignity of Children
Even ABC and Oprah have distanced themselves from this 'documentary' that was put out by ABC's entertainment division in 1997. On January 12, 2007, ABC's own program, 20/20, revealed evidence that Anthony Godby Johnson (the young boy dying of AIDS in "About Us: The Dignity of Children") was a fictional creation. One of the shows producers, Leslie Karsten, appeared to have contributed to the cover up of the fictional character of Anthony Godby Johnson by making the following reference to Anthony when questioned about the veracity of his existence, "I am Momma, and he is the gift of my life." How ABC could have permitted the cast list to include the voice of Anthony Godby Johnson who a voice analysis expert identified to be that of Vicki Johnson, a woman who claimed to be his adoptive mother, is baffling.

Tell me what you think of this plot: A child comes back to life to confront the mother who cut her throat, only she is a grown woman, but still talks like a child. Meanwhile this so-called ghost manages to seduce her mother's "boyfriend" who has come back after 18 years. The ghost manages to get pregnant by him. Then the "ghost", totally naked and pregnant is brought out on the front porch by her mother and disappears in a couple of minutes when a group of church ladies start chanting and singing spiritual songs from the road in front of the house. Then the mother goes into depression for having lost the child that has come back to her and her other daughter goes to work for rich white folks to support herself and her mother. That's Beloved in a nutshell. And let's not forget another ghost that you don't ... Read More
