Great story telling. So much story to follow, so much history to learn and wonder about how the human race can survive so much.

VHS : Mrs. Arris Goes to Paris
I watched this movie for the first time in 1999, after I accidentally picked it up from a public library. Even though I don't like to use superlatives as I inevitably end up changing my mind, this movie is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best movie I have ever seen. I still haven't changed my mind for the past 10 years!

It's just beautiful... like a postcard. It takes place between London and Paris in the 1950's, with all their charm. Part of the story takes place in the House of Dior in Paris where Mrs Harris (promounced 'Arris by her French friends) tries to purchase the dress of her dreams after she worked very hard to save every penny of its price. A tender love story unfolds as a subplot between a socially awkward accountant and a pretty model. Omar Sherif's role as ... Read More

VHS : Mayerling (1968)
I saw the 1968 version of Mayerling in April of 1969 at a base theater
while I was in basic training in the Air Force. I note this because the
subject of the film and its well-dressed actors and its European scenery
were so different from the military surroundings and military "dress"
which I was enduring at the time. I had not heard about the story of
Prince Rudolph and Princess Maria before. But suspected Mayerling's tragic ending from the start, but I think it did take the film a long time to reach its conclusion. However, I believe Mayerling was a visual delight and the musical score was beautiful too.
The cast was excellent with Omar Sharif and Catherine Deneuve along with
Ava Gardner and James Mason. To many the story of these tragic lovers ... Read More

VHS : The Tamarind Seed
I LOVED this movie when I watched it in the late 80s on VHS. Now, not only can't I find it on DVD here or anywhere online for this area of the world, but I can't even find a VHS copy anywhere. It seems like Australia and Japan and the UK have PAL versions available. Does anyone out there have any influence with the studio to make sure they release this on DVD for WORLDWIDE distribution?

Anyway, this was a fantastic movie, very different type of role for Julie Andrews (serious), quite well done. The setting in Barbados was magnificent, and the chemistry between Andrews and Sharif was really mesmerizing. I really want to see this film again. Anyone have any idea how to get it?

5.Baltimore Bullet starring: James Coburn, Omar Sharif, Bruce Boxleitner, Ronee Blakley, Jack O'Halloran

VHS : Baltimore Bullet
Any movie about pool players risks being compared with the two Paul Newman "fast Eddie"movies namely "The Hustler" and its sequel "The Color of Money", Temptation to make such comparisons with these movies when approaching this picture should be resisted because they were quite weighty affairs whereas The Baltimore Bullet is a lighter work entirely.
James Coburn plays "Nick Casey" a pool hustler whose protege is "Billie Joe Robbins" -played by Bruce Boxleitner .They tour the pool halls of America taking on all comers but with one over arching aim -namely to raise the $20,000 it will take to challenge "The Deacon"(Omar Sharif)the game's acknowledged Mr Big during an upcoming tournament .
The structure is a bit repetitious with a great many pool hall scenes and the sub-plots involving gangsters ... Read More

VHS : The Night of the Generals
German Army officer Grau, a colonel in Wehrmacht Intelligence, is talking to a French policeman, Inspector Morand, in Paris. The year is 1944. For two years Grau has been investigating the psychopathic murder of a prostitute that took place in Warsaw. The suspects are three Wehrmacht general officers. Says Inspector Morand as he wonders why Grau is so persistent in his investigation, "Murder is the occupation of generals."

"Then let us say," Grau replies, "what is admirable on the large scale is monstrous on the small. Since we must give medals to mass murderers, why not give justice to the small entrepreneur."

The Night of the Generals is a mess. It sprawls all over the place, from Poland to Paris to Germany; from 1942 to 1944 to 1963. We have everything from warfare in cities to ... Read More

VHS : National Geographic's Mysteries of Egypt
Mysteries of Egypt, a production by IMAX, introduces viewers to Ancient Egypt. The aerial photography of the river Nile is spectacular and is worth the purchase of that production on its own. Unfortunately, the authors of Mysteries of Egypt spend too much time covering the supposed curse of Pharaoh Tutankhamun's tomb. To its credit, Mysteries of Egypt can give some viewers a taste for a more substantive, visual overview of Ancient Egypt. Think for instance about Egypt: Beyond the Pyramids by The History Channel or The Mysteries of Egypt by Kultur.

In the product description is said it has subtitles in spanish, due to the fact that my dad only speaks spanish I thought it would be a great gift for him and make him remember his days of youth, but its just a BIG LIE!!! the movie only has 2 languages: English and French.
Now why didn't we returned it? We are too far away to start a process like that and my dad was too excited to take a look at the description that he just peeled off the wrap.
