VHS : Child of Glass
As a child growing up in the 70's and 80's, I thoroughly enjoyed the Wonderful World of Disney that aired on Sunday nights. This film was one of those reasons why I enjoyed the series so much.

Child of Glass stars a young boy named Alexander who with his family move into a new house in Kentucky. While the rest of the family focuses on remodeling the home, young Alexander is exploring something else- the ghost of a young girl.

Upon further investigation, and visitations with the girl, he learns the name of the ghost, Inez. She pleads with Alexander to solve a riddle and find the "Child of Glass" which will bring closure to her life and will release her from being a ghost. She convinces Alexander to help her solve the riddle and he enlists his new friend Blossom to help him. ... Read More

VHS : Cash McCall

I have all Cameron Hawley's books in hardcover, and am glad to say Executive Suite has finally been issued on DVD. However, where is Cash McCall, it is way past time for it to appear. Warner Brothers is very tardy in issuing some of their better genre work, with Cash McCall being one. Yellowstone Kelly with Clint Walker and the 2nd season of Cheyenne being two more.

Back to Cash McCall: this is a movie fairly true to the novel, and the performers are excellently suited for the picture. Dean Jagger was coming back to the screen after having a stroke and his pronunciation is a little off, but he was such a good actor he carries it off. And don't you love Nina Foch playing the spoiler. The picture overall is a romantic romp with very little message other than enjoyment. However, since ... Read More

VHS : Spartacus
The name Spartacus has a long and honorable history in the annals of the modern international labor movement, most notably, as used by Rosa Luxemburg, Karl Liebknecht and their comrades as the early name for their ill-fated revolutionary organization the Sparatacusbund in the 1919 German revolutionary working class uprising. Why would a 20th century revolutionary labor organization use the name of a pre-Christian era Thracian slave-general for their organization? To state the question is to provide the answer. The symbiotic relationship between the efforts to overthrow Roman chattel slavery in ancient times and capitalist wage slavery in modern ones is a "no-brainer". Whether one can draw that inference from the story line of this cinematic effort is another question. That is where the fact that this story line, ... Read More

I remember growing up with the pictures of glow in the dark condoms and body building seductresses floating around in my head from the time I was 14-19 y/o. This movie is Hilarious and (to me)tends to make more sense to aging delinquents who sort have been in those situations. What also stuck with me was how empty this character's life seemed to be even after all the sex and games (which, is every boy's definition of heaven). There's this one song in the movie that I've been trying to get my hands on for over 20 some odd years titled (I think) "Falling Out of Love." If anyone has any info on how I can finally put this search to rest it will be much appreciated. Good movie.. and, aquired taste.

VHS : Columbo: Prescription for Murder (The Premiere Collection)
This was Columbo at his best. Long trenchcoat in LA, broken down car, can't remember his pencil, scratches his head, almost out the door before coming back to ask "Oh yeah, and one more thing"...

These are just a few of the things this iconic character does to lead his prey right into the trap. Columbo always gets his man and you should buy this premier episode.
