VHS : The Family Man
I have to say that this is my all-time favorite movie. It's a beautiful romantic movie, and it reminds one of what's truly important in life. Though not specifically a Christmas film, it's great to watch around the holidays. It's very well-written, the acting is great, and it's funny and entertaining. This film is destined to become a classic. I highly recommend it for the whole family.

VHS : Raising Arizona
There was a time, many many years ago, before National Treasure, Ghostrider and Bangkok Dangerous, that Nicholas Cage was in the greatest movie of all time. That movie, was Raising Arizona. If you haven't seen it, please start a Netflix account right now and queue up 4 movies and watch in this order:

1st - National Treasure (wow, did I just sit through that?)
2nd - Ghostrider (wow, someone in Hollywood funded this?)
3rd - Bangkok Dangerous (wow, this is on DVD already? I saw it just opened last week in the theater???)

at this point, you are going to want to jump out of a window, but before you do, there is 1 more movie you have to watch......

4th - Raising Arizona (my god, this is the greatest movie of all time!!!!)

All the men are stupid jerks who screw up their own lives and the lives of those around them. Fortunately for the safety of New York City, all of the women are wise, patient and nurturing, and manage to get the bozos back on track. No wonder my wife thinks this is the best movie of all time!

VHS : Christmas Carol - The Movie
Being 22, I grew up knowing the story of the Christmas Carol in movies and theatrical shows. I tend to think that the one I saw most - the 1992 release - as being my favorite, but I happened upon this version during a cable TV special. I first thought, Oh geez another animated project...but I was surprised by the sheer depth, character and beautiful animation of this movie. The actors who voice the characters are brilliant (and Kate Winslet gives a stellar performance on the theme song, "What If") and the mice bring much needed fun to a rather serious kind of story; the animation is interesting (especially during the Ghost of Present scenes with the swirling colors and images intermixed with the gorgeous music), although a bit old in comparison to today's standards it is still a nice combination and very ... VHS : Guarding Tess
THis is a favourite and a fun movie. Shirley MacLaine does a wondeful performance of an ex-First Lady who knows she is in the middle of nowhere with not much of a life. Nicolas Cage is great as the annoyed head of her security detail. The DVD arrived quickly and in great shape.

As someone else has already said before me, this is the "Top Gun" for the U.S. Army. Good cast, great filming of the Army helicopters though the story line is weak, still worth picking up!

VHS : Zandalee
Zandalee, Zandalee, Zandalee.

Where do I start? Well, I watched this movie on cable a couple of times when I was still a child, and I remember it being a good but forbidden movie. I decided to buy the movie before it became obsolete and enjoy a smut classic. But watching it as an adult has shown me one thing: it's bad in every way. From the bad Louisiana accents to the narcotics inspired acting by Nicolas Cage to the pedestrian acting by Ericka Alexander to the silly script writing. It's very bad. Even the s/ex scenes are not as good as I remembered: a couple come off as rape scenes, which will always be dangerous considering how many confuse rape with consentual desire already. I guess my changing view about Zandalee says a lot about the eyes and mind of a 12 year old versus that of a 25 year old. ... Read More

WOW! Such a powerful movie! It is by FAR one of the best movies p.e.r.i.o.d. The chemistry was amazing, not to mention the acting, but of course when you have two phenomenal actors as Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan, your bound to have an excellent movie. City of Angels is no exception!
Cage plays Seth who is an angel that comes to collect the dieing, Ryan plays Maggie a heart surgeon...without telling you all the good parts Seth shows himself to Maggie and he ends up trading immortality to be with her.
Funny, heartwarming, and an all around great movie!

I give this movie A++. The black and white effects are really cool. All effects were done by hand, no generic computer special effects. Most importantly, the writing and story was excellent with poetic tones. I feel in love with this movie and it will always be one of my favorites.

VHS : 8MM
I am certainly NOT a Nicolas Cage fanatic, and I've never liked much of Joel Schumacher's work (especially his ultra-silly Batman sequels). However, I did find 8MM to be interesting as well as somewhat disturbing. Cage, as private investigator Tom Welles, must plumb the depths of human depravity and degradation in order to uncover the truth behind a snuff film. Though goofy in spots, I was pleased by most of the dialogue and action. Joaquine Phoenix is excellent as porn-shop worker, Max California. As a sort of tour-guide, he leads Welles down through deeper, ever darkening levels of illicit behavior, into an underground universe where anything goes. Peter Stormare (Fargo, Unknown) is his usual eeevil self as bondage-film auteur, and all around madman, Dino Velvet. James Gandolfini (Tony Soprano himself!) is a perfectly sleazy ... Read More
