VHS : Jim Henson Muppets: The Christmas Toy
This would be a wonderful addition to a Christmas movie collection that I wish they would release on DVD as well as re-releasing The Muppet Family Christmas. I am not willing to pay $[...] for the out of print dvd but I would love to have it. This title has never been released on DVD and with all the crap that Disney puts out I'm appauled that they don't release something as charming and quality as this. Its classic Henson and will always have a place in my heart!

Seriously, this movie is not worth the more than 3 stars many people give it. Yes, give credit to Price for playing a vile character sans the usual "camp" factor, but that praise on its own makes neither his acting nor the whole of this film great. I found myself fast forwarding through several sections that would have offered nothing more if I let them play at normal speed. This type of "self-editing" we do on occasion with movies at home just goes to show some professional editing should have been done in the first place. In fact, I'd go as far as to say it should have been edited to the degree of a whole new film, that would better serve Price's resume and our viewing pleasure.

Some complain they don't know how this is categorized as "horror" -- I don't know where or if it is, ... Read More

I remember seeing this movie on TV back in the day. My sister had been trying to figure out what it was called, so I gave it to her on her birthday. I'm not sure if anybody stayed awake all the way through. It's very cheesy and very weird. I would love to see Mystery Science Theater commentate on it.

VHS : Thirty Is a Dangerous Age, Cynthia
This is a long overlooked comedy film starring Dudley Moore. The music he wrote for the film is, for the most part, wonderful. The silly story ia about a struggling 29 year old composer, Rupert Street, who becomes determined to write his first hit London West End musical and find the girl of his dreams to marry before he turns 30. But he's 29 and doesn't have much time. The story mixes everyday life in Rupert's life with a lot of total fantasy sequences as he imagines how the musical he's writing would be performed, imagines himself as Mozart and other famous composers writing their symphonies, etc. The story even has a mystery sub-plot involving a dectective -- filmed in a overtly dramatic 1940s type way complete with a narrative. All of this is, I think, fun to watch. We even get to see and hear the ... Read More

I'm not a movie person, I'd rather read, but every so often I look for a chick flick or foreign film that's not totally mainstream. I also want to watch a movie that my husband wouldn't or couldn't get just because he's a guy. I loved this movie. I grew up then, I remember these times and these situations, and while life wasn't perfect I had hopes and dreams and friends that I don't have now. So I say if you want some nostalgic and different chick flick watch this(AND by the way I loved Hysterical Blindness as well!), but don't bring a guy.

Good acting but uninteresting story. Not much happens and its very talky. Judging from the cover and the casting I expected a fun comedy but "There's a Girl in My Soup" feels more of an uninspired drama-comedy, with very few funny moments (I can only think of one, and I just finished watching it). The acting is good, as expected from Hawn and Sellers, but their talents are wasted. Not recommended.
