Most of Nelson and Jeanette films will make you sing and smile and once
in a while make you shed a tear. I always wanted to know why my mom
cried looking at their movies years ago when i sat on her lap while they
played on tv in the early sixties. Now that im older, and have just seen
this movie, i also shed a tear for this delightfull tale of love.

Now that ive seen this movie in color, im glad Louis b Mayer was cheap and
made all the previous Jeanette and Nelson movie in black and white.
Maybe one day they will be collorized and i will get both versions.
Sweethearts plays almost like the real life of this couple. Hounded down
all the times to perform, and the plots taken by their management to keep
them.
With color we now see Jeanette and Nelson in a different atmostphere.
We see more of the makup, and more things jump out because of the color.
Im so used to see them in different era costumes, that seeing them
as normal was kind of a shock.
Sooooo the movie sweathearts is good,,,but not as good as their other
movies together.

It was suppose to be in color, but with ongoing problems ...like always..
MGM shot it in black and white. Im so used to see Nelson and Jeanette in
black in white that i does not bother me anymore... The Love stories are
always a pleasure to watch and the signing usually melts me down.
There was some ongoing friction between the two stars when the movie was
filmed but it does'nt show. Lots of people can sing, but none can beat
the duo of Nelson Eddy and Jeanette Macdonald.....Music Gold.

7.I Married an Angel starring: Jeanette MacDonald, Nelson Eddy, Edward Everett Horton, Binnie Barnes, Reginald Owen
directed by: Roy Del Ruth, W.S. Van Dyke

VHS : I Married an Angel
The films of Nelson Eddy and Jeanette Macdonald have always held a special
place in my heart, cause they usually point to love and music. Films that
have affected audiences for a long time. They also made people feel better
in the dark days of war.
And today, they still make us feel good. There's a magical chemistry
when they are together. This only lasted 8 films, and Married to a
Angel was their last one. Saw it as a kid, and even today i still love
this film. Dont try to disect the movie, just sit down and enjoy.
And in the end, if it leaves a smile on your face, Nelson and Jeanette
succeeded in their work.

8.Chocolate Soldier starring: Nelson Eddy, Risë Stevens, Nigel Bruce, Florence Bates, Dorothy Raye

Nobody is better than Jeanette Macdonald to be teamed with Nelson Eddy, but Rise Stevens did a pretty good job. She is beautiful and sings pretty
good...good enough to be with Nelson Eddy for the Chocolate Soldier. There
is music, drama, great costumes and nice sets. The story flows pretty
good and is pleasant to the end. Another movie that ive seen in the past
as a child that has contributed to the music surrounding me in my Adult
world. A keeper..enjoy.

9.Make Mine Music starring: Nelson Eddy, Dinah Shore, Benny Goodman, The Andrews Sisters, Jerry Colonna

10.Bitter Sweet starring: Jeanette MacDonald, Nelson Eddy, George Sanders, Ian Hunter, Felix Bressart

VHS : Bitter Sweet
Jeanette and Nelson movies succeeded more when done in black and white, and especially where Nelson was the hero and Jeanette the kind of damsell in distress..but there was always adventure...great sets and great
singing...
In Bittersweet, Nelson does'nt look like himself compared to other films,
maybe his health was not the best ... i even remember this film from
my youth and even then i knew that this one was not like the others.
Hey, Nelson and Jeanette only made 8 films together ...so Bittersweet
for all fans is also a must see and a keeper for the collection.
