VHS : Revolution (1985)
I think its easily the best movie about the American Revolution. The A&E videos of TV pressentations of "The Crossing" and "Benedict Arnold" are also very good. While how good it is is a matter of opinion, anyone who thinks that Gibson's silly movie is better doesn't know much about American history. This movie has the feeling of the 1770s and the criticism of Pacino's and Kinsky's accents is amusing. The residents of the americas came from every corner of the earth and regional accents were numerous. Who knows how anyone sounded?

The real disappointment is that the available Portuguese region one dvd has very disappointing video quality. But at least it IS widescreen. But I am looking forward to a decent U.S. release. I suspect the dvd import is pirated.

But its ... Read More

I never read the book so I cannot compare, but the movie (in 2 parts) is excellent. Carsten Norgaard is amazing (and quite the handsome man), and Nastassja Kinski is perfect in her role.

Nastassja Kinski(Cold Heart, Cat People) hires Billy Zane(Zoolander, Tombstone), Dan Aykroyd(tv's Psi Factor, Ghostbusters 1 and 2), Lara Flynn Boyle(tv's The Practice, Afterglow), Michael Biehn(The Rock, The Art Of War) and Rob Schneider(Hot Chick, The Animal) into a plan that would kill her ex-husband Adrian Paul(Highlander Endgame, Christine)...Biehn and Schneider shoot Paul three times but he doesnt die....this is a good black comedy with some funny ass moments...a lot of dreaming and waking up though...Zane is hilarious...Kinski is hot and Biehn as Dave is just a plain dumbass...mainly Biehn in his movies plays a cop or a seal or a badguy. other actors are Joey Travolta, Lisa Eichhorn, Bill Duke(Predator, Commando) and Thomas Haden Church(Demon Knight, George of the jungle).

VHS : Faraway, So Close
The first hour of this film follows the majesty, strength of "Wings of Desire" (Himmel Uber Berlin). The otherworldy and worldly resonate together on the screen. Philosophy, compassion, the Angel longing for Life is here again, played out again and again, for the first hour; I was entranced.

But when the Angel becomes Man, becomes Karl Engel, the film begins to lose focus, the pathos is weakened and characters becomes hard to relate to, especially Cassiel (now Karl Engel in human form). He becomes a thief, an alcoholic, gets mixed up with a mobster, does him a favor and from then on, everything becomes convoluted and strained, the plot faltering, the philosophy filled with platitudes. Even Willem Defoe's character becomes less intriguing and Raphaela (played by Kinksi) just another ball ... Read More

VHS : Little Boy Blue (1998)
This is one of those Southern Gothic flicks involving family secrets in a small town with characters and events that make your skin crawl, yet you just can't stop watching. About halfway through you'll think you've got it all figured out but one or two of the revelations towards the end will probably take you by surprise.

Ryan Phillippe does an outstanding job, showing that even early in his career he was more than a pretty face, as does Nastassja Kinski, who I guess also shows she was more than a pretty face. (As for John Savage, he can probably phone in this kind of role by now.) One quirky aspect of the script is that various characters will be just about to learn something important when the scene will cut away .. leaving you, the viewer, in the dark. It comes dangerously close to being an annoyance, ... Read More

An older man (Marcello Mastoianni) falls in love with a girl (Natassia Kinski) 20 years his junior. Friends put the seed in his head that she may be his daughter, which he can't prove one way or the other. He's torn by the guilt of this possibility; he's also concerned about her youth - a completely different generation: do they have anything in common? But at the end he goes off with her anyway. The acting leaves much to be desired, but it's an interesting idea. WARNING: The dubbing is terrible.

this movie sizzles with its great cast that spark and snap this thrilling, well thriller. Peter Coyote(Sphere) is a writer, Nastassja Kinski(Cold Heart, One Night Stand, Little Boy Blue and Cat People) is the one he writes to in prison and she meets him. Jeremy Piven(PCU, Judgment Night) is Coyotes friend, and Fairuza Balk(The Craft, The Island Of Dr. Moreau) is the girl infatuated with Coyote. the cast is great, no doubt, especially Piven(who is always great). you also got supporting cast members like Udo Kier(Blade, Barb Wire), Ernie Hudson(The Substitute, No Escape and Pauly Shore(In The Army Now, Son In Law). hang on

Kinski and Heard are starstruck lovers burdened by the fact that she will turn into a ferocious beast. The set design, the cast, the moody atmospheric score all combine to make a artistic statement. Some of the visuals are cheaply disturbing, when Malcolm changes from man to beast leaving slime everywhere and Kinski naked for no apparent reason. But overall the film captures the feline essence of a femme fatale and a man obsessed.

10.Tess starring: Nastassja Kinski, Peter Firth, Leigh Lawson, John Collin, Rosemary Martin

VHS : Tess
While taking artistic liberties from the novel , Polanski's Tess is a very entertaining and beautifully filmed movie. The settings and costuming recreate the feeling of Hardy's Wessex as well as any filmed version of his works ever has.
Nastassja Kinski was beautiful in the role and although her acting can be somewhat wooden at times she does make a memorable Tess. The rest of the cast make up for her shortcoming by providing outstanding performances.
The pace tends to slow in certain parts of the film but if you are a fan of period films loosely based on classics you can do worse than spending some time watching this.
