This tape really should have an accurate description of what it offers prospective buyers. Based on the title I thought I was getting a tape of World Cup competition. What I got instead was performances by a group of former Olympians who were apparently on tour together. It is important to note that these skaters are performing on a stage as opposed to a regular ice arena. This means that they have only a 60 foot by 40 foot space on which to execute their moves. It is literally a stage, like those on which plays are staged, that has been covered with ice. Needless to say, the limited amount of space restricts their ability to perform. For those wanting to view the racetrack performances and characteristics of important stallions and broodmares, it provides an insight complimentary to the studbook and sales catalogue. It is also very thoughtfully presented, giving rare interview and off-track footage of the major players, including the owner of Wild Again, talking on the morning of the inagural meeting. I recommend it to those interested in comparing horses of different eras, as well as contempories. Races between Ferdinand and Alysheba; Bayakoa and Go For Wand; Sunday Silence and Easy Goer, show the value behind the stud pricetags of some of the most valuable horses in history. My daughter got this video last year for Christmas. We are watching it today for the first time in several months, and I am complelled to write a review I should have written last January. The video is great- my 6 year old loves it- that was the problem. From the beginning, the tape itself had a few places where the picture would jump, but I couldn't pry it from her to return it for replacement. I fiqured we could live with the bad tape quality since it was only a few tiny places, but it has gotten much worse over time. Just beware that while the content is good, you may be better off with another video- or maybe mine is just a bum tape.

What a load of garbage! The sound quality on this is pathetic - half the time you can't even hear what the players who are being interviewed are saying because of crowd noise from the previous scene carrying over. The vision is OK, some good highlights, but the whole thing just seems to meander aimlessly without any theme holding it together. Sometimes it looks like we're following the tour, other times it looks like we're doing a player focus.

If you're a die hard fan of figure skating you will be extremely disappointed with this video. As other reviewers have noted the music is "dubbed" I'm not sure it's dubbed I believe they use music that was not original music. I think they used the songs the skaters skated to but they did not use the original music the skater skated to. It was heartbreaking to see the 5 second blur of Natalia Mishkutenok and Artur Dmitiriev in their purple cloud routine and to not see the entire performance. Lucky for me I do have that routine in my video library. I love figure skating and I thought this video would show the entire performances with reviewer commentary. Nope. I like what is on the tape.
