The video story had a good concept, a good plot showing events that were very realistic, but it left out key events such as the revenge of Cassie against Lilian Jean, how the blacks were treated in school, and the revenge of the Logan children getting back at the white bus driver. Watching the movie with important events left out, left the audience confused.

That blacks in the civil war era had it hard even when free
isn't new, but that a group was trained as soldiers in
the north and actually fought in the south.
Matthew Broderick seems young for the leading officer, but the acting of Morgan Freeman and Denzel Washington in this film is first rate.
I think had the ending not been so depressing that it might have gotten more awards. You finish this film thinking that they all died
and pretty much for nothing
as the fort was never taken.

i just saw this movie early this morning i was able to see only 75 to 80 percent of it because i was still in bed very tired but when i saw legendary actor paul newman in it i decided to give it a shot paul newman was good as harry keach in it he was serious but yet adding a little bit of comedy acting he plays a strict father who was very tough on his son and wanted him to grow up by being able to take care of himself he lost his wife in the life and had a difficult time continuing with the rest of his life by refusing to see other women who wanted to go out with him Robby Benson was howard (paul newman's movie son) he personally reminded me of john travolita from grease and Emile Hirsch from a girl next door put together he had a pregnant girl played by Ellen Barkin Morgan Freeman and the late great Ossie ... This isn't just another thriller. This one deals with psychology, philosophy, and the seven deadly sins (Gluttony, Greed, Wrath, Lust, Sloth, Pride, and Envy). This one shakes you to the bone (it really works as a top-rate thriller). The acting, the cinematography, the minimal music, and the urban setting are amazing. And you'll be rightfully shocked at what happens in the end. ****1/2 out of *****.

Much has been said of the Holocaust, but these stories usually end with the liberation of the Jews from the concentration camps. This remarkable documentary fills in the missing piece between this period and the creation of the state of Israel. It was an excruciatingly difficult transition. From the concentration camps, the Jews went to displaced persons camp because they could not return to their old ways of life. These camps were scarcely an improvement. As one survivor states, "The Nazis killed us, but the Allies do not let us live." Anti-Semitic feelings remained strong among the people of surrounding countries as well as the ranks of the Allies themselves. The Jews began to work toward a homeland and many survivors made the difficult journey to Palestine, only to be blocked by the British, who still ... Read More

I love this movie. I owned it on VHS and was looking to upgrade, so I bought this DVD. It's a 2 sided disc so you have to turn the disc over half way through the movie just to watch the rest. Lame. I was also a bit disappointed that the video by Bryan Adams wasn't at the end with the credits like it was on the VHS. It was also at the end of the movie in the movie theatre too, so I'm not sure why they would exclude it on the DVD. I love this movie and hate to give it any thing less than a 4, but because of the DVD format, I'm giving it a 2.
