I haven't seen this movie on TV in many years. How sad that such a heartwarming movie has been discarded by the networks. There are plenty of other Christmas movies I could sure do without that they choose to show instead. I checked again this year to see if it available on DVD and it's not or I would have bought it. We don't own a VCR any longer and I think the price for the VHS are a little much.

This was the first film I saw in the theater, and it totally freaked me out. I was 5 and oh man did this movie scare and depressed me. Never saw it again the rest of my life and will NEVER let my children see it. Thank goodness my next movie was Star Wars. Whew.

I watched it for the second time in my life last night after what I think is 13 years (I'm 18 now), and I'm reminded why I loved this movie so much. Not only are the animations and music great, but the underlying lessons that are taught about trustworthy friendship and the tribulations that life gives us. The world we live in today is constantly telling us that we need to network and make contacts in order to insure ourselves in job security, financial security, or even emotional security. Friendship is meant so that we form bonds that last lifetimes. I've relearned a valuable lesson from this movie. I would also like to recommend my most favority Disney classic, The Jungle Book. THis movie is a very heart warming story. It makes me cry over and over again. Mickey Rooney does an outstanding job in this movie even in his golden years. He stil is the best actor I've ever seen. He's so natural at what he does, Just a awesome guy! You will love them sweet movie. It's a good family movie, very clean, no bad language at all! Just great!

Let me first say that i do not own this DVD, YET. I have seen this movie many times, on cable. It is my favorite (Christmas) movie. I only gave it three stars because i just have seen this movie, i do not own this DVD. I will give it a better review, when i get it during Christmas time.

Judy Garland (in her third and final appearance on the Andy Hardy movie) plays Betsy Booth, and though she lost none of her charm, she did lose the childish look she had in "Love Finds Andy Hardy" and replaced it with the more glamorous "Presenting Lily Mars" look. I think one of the reasons that I don't like "Life Begins For Andy Hardy" as much, would have to be the fact that Judy Garland isn't in very much of the movie. It's all about the problems that a small town boy like Andy (Mickey Rooney) has in the big city. He has just graduated from Carvel High School and has dreams of high living, but becomes disappointed when he can't find a job in New York City.

Not only that, but Polly's friend (Esther Williams) uses Andy for her psychology studies and winds herself as Andy's fiancee too. Also, Andy tries to sell his old car to pay for the transportation of his new car to his town. Judge Hardy (Lewis Stone) has his own problems. He is trying to solve a case involving a little boy (Robert Blake) so he can accompany his son to his old alma mater. Everything seems all mixed up, but it all comes out right in the end. It is no wonder he finds the help of a secretary (Kathryn Grayson) so helpful. Kathryn Land and her family are somewhat poor, so they haven't been active with student affairs before, but Andy's enthusiasm is infectious. With the help of Judge Hardy (Lewis Stone), Mr. Land finds a swell job, but Andy just might manage to mess it up. As always, Rooney's boundless energy is the pivotal part of the show.
