VHS : Poor Little Rich Girl
If you feel silly watching Shirley Temple films without a child, watch this one. Jack Haley and the wonderful and sexy Alice Faye are superb. There's a dark aspect with one character stalking Shirley (rather unsettling). Everyone is terrific in the film and I believe it to be Shirley Temple's best movie. I agree with one reviewer about the cruel dispatching of the nurse Collins. It was either the result of clumsy writing or editing. Otherwise this is one enjoyable, bouncy film.

VHS : Wee Willie Winkie
Rudyard Kipling stories have always translated well to film and television, think The Jungle Book, The Man Who Would Be King, and Wee Willie Winkie is no exception. In India in 1897, young Priscilla Williams and her mother Joyce are traveling by train to a remote British outpost commanded by Priscilla's grandfather. Upon arriving, Priscilla finds out that her grandfather doesn't quite know how to interact with little girls so she decides her best option to get to know him is to become a soldier. With the help of the friendly Sgt. Donald McDuff, Priscilla tries to become a soldier, and with a new name at that, Private Wee Willie Winkie. There is something undescribable about this film that makes it so good. It hits all the right notes throughout. Seen through Wee Willie Winkie's eyes, everything ... Read More

VHS : Never Been Kissed
This review is from my wife Sarah: Never Been Kissed is one of my all time favorites. Drew Barrymore is absolutely believable and lovable as an intelligent but seriously geeky 25 year old writer who goes undercover as a high school student. In the course of looking for her story she must break into the "popular" click, but that's tough because inside she's still the same geek that she always was. In this process she finds her healing and dignity. Her under-acheiving brother steps in to help her, and he also finds his own second chance at life.

She also falls for a teacher who sees her as an off-limits high school student. The entire story is told in a totally amusing and engaging way. It's a story many people will relate to, and though it's a great "chick flick", I believe guys will love ... Read More

VHS : Elvira: Missile to Moon
The title says it all: a missile goes to the moon! Only there are people in the missile so it's not really a missile but should more precisely be referred to as a "rocket"!

Still, it goes to the moon, so the title is 50 percent right, which is more than you can say for, oh, Magnolia, which is not about magnolias at all, but rather is largely comprised of Tom Cruise talking about his junk.

Not only does Missile to the Moon offer a title that is half true, it also delivers a thrilling 50's era tale filled with chunk-headed scientists, shapely pageant winners, and a spider that's roughly as menacing as one of the lesser Baldwin brothers.

But the real star of this RiffTrax is comedy legend Fred Willard! Yes, the funniest man in America joins Mike as they take on the classic Missile to the Moon. ... Read More

VHS : Phantom from 10000 Leagues
There have been some good low budget sea monster movies but this most emphatically is not among their number as it fails on every level-acting ,effects ,script and photography .

When Professor King ,played by Michael Whalen ,begins experimenting with an underwater atomic light there is an unforseeen consequence -the creation of a mutant combination of a turtle and an alligator (and clearly played by a performer in a rubber monster suit). To add a layer of cold war paranoia to the plot we also have a secondary story in which the Soviets set out to steal the light and the intrepid US agent Ted ( a wooden Kent Taylor) ,must thwart the dastardly plans of the Soviet spy ,Wanda (Helene Stanton).Being a resourceful sort of chap he also finds tme for an amorous dalliance with the professor's daughter,Lois -played in the nearest thing ...
