Off and on for the past couple of years I have been trying to locate this movie, I am so glad you had it in DVD. It is such an entertaining story I like it as well as my teenage grandchildren.

2.Allnighter starring: Susanna Hoffs, Dedee Pfeiffer, Joan Cusack, John Terlesky, James Shanta

VHS : Allnighter
This movie does not deserve too many words -- it's largely a forgetable, vanity project made by Susanna Hoff's mother, Tamar Hoffs, for her pop singer daughter. It's vacuous and difficult to sit throgh -- at least Beack Blanket Bingo had those Annette and Frankie duets interspersed between the weak plots. And that extended scene with a half-naked Susanna looking in the mirror while Aretha Franklin's Respect plays in the bckground. Respect? No wonder she never got any again after making this atrocious waste of celluloid.

This is a great family movie! It has a great message for children on how to take care of family and how sometimes it takes sacrifice.

VHS : Clara's Heart
This film is more than it wants to be. The critic and cynic in me would gleefully join Mr. Marshall Fine in enumerating the many ways this film tries to manipulate its audience. First on my list would be the score by Dave Grusin which acts as a musical leash to pull the audience where they probably would have gone anyway. But that is where I will stop, because although the film does everything in its power to convince us it's the cinematic equivalent of Prozac, it betrays this image by containing subtle, powerful insights that set it apart from its saccharine ilk. There IS something different here, you just have to know where to look. Its not so much about what Clara does for David, a lot of his problems remain after her departure... What is special about "Clara's Heart" is that its about the indestructible ... Read More

VHS : Slap Shot
Slap Shot is bottom-of-the-barrel minor league hockey. It's blue collar, living on the edge of desperation, rust belt culture. It's about a marginal business run for purposes irrelevant to sport. It's people miscast in life from hacks who see themselves as pros, to elitists who deign to play with the low-lifes. It's about people screwing up their relationships, about mis-communication and non-communication. It's about how people hurt each other in order to connect with one another. It's crude and irreverent. It's about the really screwy things people finally rally around. It combines more comedy genres than I can count.

Slap Shot is not a typical heartwarming sports flick. It concludes nothing about good and evil. Or overcoming long odds. It's not about a noble coach or noble players. Or ... Read More

VHS : Twin Peaks: Episodes 1-29
David Lynch is a genius. A mini series is a very difficult genre because each episode is rather long and must end with some unsolved suspense. Moreover altogether it is many hours on one single essential piece of suspense and it runs the risk of getting boring, of slowing down and of losing interest for the audience. What's more that genre is used quite a lot on American television with the soap operas. That miniseries also runs the risk of being compared today with the film, and of course it is. The film is short, dynamic and to the point all the time, perfectly concentrating on one single line of suspense. So what can David Lynch do to rejuvenate the genre, to regenerate the rules and inspiration of that genre? He does a lot and that's where he becomes a genius. First he embeds in his own miniseries short scene ... Read More

VHS : Just the Way You Are
This is one of my favorite movies from the '80s. Kristy is great, Michael is great. The soundtrack with ABBA and OXO really liven up the scenes. Why in the world is this not on DVD?? Really doesn't make sense when there is plenty of junk being put on DVD every day instead.

VHS : Voices (1979)
I recorded this movie off cable years ago and am DYING to get it on DVD.
It is done so sensitively. Watching Amy Irving's acting in this movie as a hearing impaired teacher/dancer is pure PLEASURE! The final ending when her love sings and signs to her at the same time has me crying EVERY time. You'll need the tissues in order to watch this movie from start to finish. Definitely a WONDERFUL chick flick.
