VHS : The Original Buns of Steel
ok this video is a little bit outdated but i like it, it looks better than the sterile white boring backgrounds of current videos. the work out is challenging but after a while it gets easier to keep up and complete each set. the best thing about it is it really creates results!!

VHS : Richard Simmons Sweatin' to the Oldies
Excellent product. I had lost 52 pounds on the Sweatin to the Oldies program. The only this is they are great aerobics program; you might have to include sit ups or push ups with the program. Even though I lost alot of weight I wasn't very tight and tone. However Richard Simmons always delivers with a fun and effective weight loss program.

VHS : It's Potty Time
I think this VHS was actually detrimental to my grandson's potty training. The only use he saw for a potty chair like his was a toy bear; all the children in the tape used the big potty and were 4+ it looked like. So, back at square one where he thinks his potty chair is a toy. This VHS might be ok for bigger kids, but even then I would like to see a little less extaneous material, ie, party footage, etc.

VHS : Follow the Sun: The Ben Hogan Story
Being a golfer and a fan of the sport for many years, I was very interested in seeing this, which I did when the VHS first came out. Later, I saw it again because of the same reason plus I usually find Glenn Ford's films entertaining.

Well, the story moves well, it didn't bore me, but I did have problems with the accuracy of it and the general theme of the film, telling us that Hogan really was a nice guy who cared lot about what the public thought. From every account I have read, and from a couple of people who met him or knew him, that was not true. The fact is that he was a mean SOB and remained that way most of his life. This movie looks like it was made by his press agent. It's ridiculous and ruins what otherwise is an inspiring story.

No one can deny Hogan's achievements ... Read More

VHS : Am/Pm Callanetics
I picked this dvd up about 6 months ago. When I did the first routine it seemed so easy, so I didn't bother to do the pm routine. Thinking to myself this is a complete waste of time, because it seemed like I was barely moving. The next morning when I got up, I was so sore!!!!!!!!!!! Legs, butt and arms! I had to stretch to get myself loosened up. Then I went and did the am routine again. Also, this time, later on in the evening, I did the pm routine. My gosh does this work! I love this tape. The transformation it has done for my body is amazing. A couple of weeks later, I did work in a 30 minute cardio (treadmill or kickboxing for me) routine with it every other day. Now I am up to every day. Just give it time and you will see the results! I have since moved on to the Callanetics 1 hr. video. But, ... Read More

VHS : Yoga Journal's Yoga for Beginners with Patricia Walden
I thought the video was great for basic thorough instructions, but after learning the positions, I found that it was aggravating to have to wait for all the instructions between positions. I also found that because I can't possibly work all the props in my limited space that I can't effectively use the video. For instance, I don't have any vacant wall space, and I don't have an acrylic "wall" prop to use either. I have bought a number of other yoga videos, I look for good instruction, but I also look for flow, and the main thing I look for is if the positions can be done with minimal space and props.

VHS : Firm Cross Trainers: Firm Cardio
I have alot of "Firm" tapes and especially like this one along with the "strength" tape. If you are an advanced exerciser, the aerobics in this tape may not be enough to complete your workout. I use "Kari Anderson's Fitness Formula" to round out the aerobic section of this tape (25 minutes of step). This tape works all of your major muscle groups and isn't hard to follow. I especially like using the 14" step. Great, well rounded workout, I highly recommend this tape!

VHS : The Firm - The Firm Cross Trainers: Firm Strength
This is more of a glamour routing than anything else. Too busy -Greek/Roman statuettes in the background various sizes, huge fireplace, boring routine, and the participants' are so phoney. The instructor and the participants routine are more erotic than anything else. I couldn't bare doing the entire video. Oh and the music, too loud and didn't sync with the moves. This video had potential, if it wasn't for all that.

Now I know why I had it hidden for so many years behind my other exercise videos.

VHS : Yoga Journal - Yoga Practice for Strength
Many have found this video to be a fairly advanced yoga workout, but for those who are familiar with a Vinyasa Flow or Ashtanga practice which generally last for 100+ intense minutes a session, you may find this to be of only moderate difficulty.

The video contains 2 "discreet" sessions with variations in vinyasa sun salutations that build up gradually in intensity. The sessions are short at 16 minutes for the first vinayasa series and about 20 minutes for the second, but Rodney is quick to point out that for a more vigorous practice, one should repeat the various sequences as desired or throw in additional postures as you see fit.

This personal modification would be necessary for those familiar with doing the full 10 Surya Namaskara A and B sun salutations, and means using the video as a fluid complete session ... Read More

VHS : VeggieTales - Are You My Neighbor?
When released, this Veggie Tales video was a fresh wind of creativity all parents and their kids will love. (I first saw this video as a single college student and loved it from the first.) Since other reviewers give you an idea about the story line, I will focus on the artistic aspects of this video, which contains two of the best episodes produced by Big Idea.

Dr. Seuss meets Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan in the Story of Flibber-o-loo. Yes, it's weird, wonderfully weird. The pacing is perfect with humor at every turn. In the tradition of old Warner Brothers cartoons, countless slapstick moments that children love are punctuated with sublime humor that only parents will get, like barbs tossed at the political and medical establishment. The moral of the story is one every parent will approve -- the importance of overcoming ... Read More
