VHS : Hello Dolly
"Hello, Dolly!" is one of those huge-budgeted musicals made after the incredible success of "The Sound of Music." Lightning was reluctant to strike twice, however, and subsequent, bloated musicals like "Paint Your Wagon," "Dr. Dolittle," "Star" and "Darling Lili" tanked at the box office. "Hello, Dolly!" seemed a safe bet. It was based on a hit Broadway show, starred Barbra Streisand -- fresh from her Oscar-winning role in "Funny Girl" -- in the title role, had a score by Jerry Herman and a script by Ernest Lehman ("North By Northwest"), and was directed by Gene Kelly, a guy who knew his way around musical movies. Yet the result was an overly long dud with Streisand monumentally miscast. Dolly should have been played by an older actress. Streisand mugs unrestrainedly and her performance ... Read More

I remember watching an interview like this is your life years ago with Michael Crawford, and they went through his career of TV, movies and plays etc.. and I kept waiting for them to mention condorman and they never did, and they should, as it's a very underrated movie.

When I was a kid, this was one of my favorite movies. About Woody (Crawford) who is a comic book writer who's best friend Harry (Michael J Fox's father in Teen Wolf/Longest Yard (original) guy who dies) is a file clerk for a spy company, who when left in charge to send a civilian to Istanbul to deliver some spy papers, he bumbled his way into making a top KGB agent (Natalia) believe he is a top agent and later wishes to have him help her defect to America.

Woody takes on the challenge and finds himself ... Read More

Kyle Howard is one of many of my favorite younger actors. He was absolutely wonderful in ADDRESS UNKNOWN. He scores again with this one. It is quite different than Address Unknown. Surprisingly, Howard is able to play both sides of a character- dramatic in Address Unknown, hilarious in this, and according to the reviews, he is also hilarious in "HOUSE ARREST", which I have never seen. This movie I had seen at least once, and I remembered it. I also remembered that I liked it. I had remembered the key plots to the movie, but I did not remember some of the characters at all, such as Gunther's parents, the bullies, or Gunther's brother. The bullies, though, are insanely stupid, and, at the end, never seem to want to give up- until the geese are released. But the main driving force behind Gunther's character ... Read More

But my younger cousins got kind of scared of the part with the owel but there okay. I think this movie has alot of teaching to get out on your own an take care of yourself thats what these 3 kids had to do in the movie.

GREAT MOVIE

Why does it seem that studios never release the movies that made the Eighties so over the top! Nudity, Risky Plot lines (weak but risque)and of course Diane Lane hot out of "Streets Of Fire." This movie was one of those many films on cable constantly especially CINEMAX. The good old (Wink) innocence days. I would love to have this one for the collection if it kindly released from the vaults!

One of the local vid stores used to do 2-for-Tuesdays, two video's for a full week for 99 cents, my daughter LOVED this movie and rented it so many times that the store owner gave it to her. Lo and behold she actually wore her copy out, and just in time for her birthday (16) it arrived safe and sound and in very decent shape, I kudo's the seller. Her birthday was March 31 and she has plugged her Gnome in a few times already. A chipper family movie with some over the top snicker factors. Low Rider has never sounded the same after viewing Norm version.

"How I Won the War," starring Michael Crawford and John Lennon, was a strange movie that I enjoyed watching over and over again as a teenager, desperately trying to understand exactly what the heck was going on at any given time. Now that I'm older and wiser, I still have no idea! However, this quirky British dark comedy will force you to laugh for reasons you may or may not understand. It's just crazy. One of my goals in life is to become enlightened and understand this movie before I die (which hopefully won't ruin it).

I looooove this movie!! This is one of my favorite movies with Joan from the 40's. In this movie she plays, the part of Lane Bellamy, a stranded carnival dancer that takes on a corrupt bigwig after she marries into high society. This is one of those movies that Joan is so famous for. Because her character is incredibly dramatic, very beautiful, smart and too damn bitchy for her own good! The movie is 94 minutes long and originally premiered on May 6, 1949. Of course you know, it's black and white. And the studio that produced it was Warners. Keep Joan alive in your heart and in your memories with this beautiful classic!!

Don't you hate it when they put up an item without a picture! I know I do. Miss Crawford was the most photogenic star and in my humble opinion the most glamorous star in the entire history of Hollywood! ... Read More
