I saw the miniseries HOLOCAUST as a child. I couldn't believe that people could be so cruel. I never forgot it. I also remember the heroism. You know, it really is an uplifting film. I lent the tape to a teacher friend of mine, and her students got it. They asked questions. They wanted to learn more about this period in history. They wanted to know more about man's inhumanity to man. I'm going to keep lending that tape. I want people to learn.

At least that's what it meant to me. Replace "South America" in all reviews by the word "Chile", because that is where the story belongs in its cut and dry facts. A wealthy family, a Shakespearean love between a peasant's son and a land owner's daughter; betrayal, rage, passion, violence and murder, ghosts (spirits), rebelion and freedom: all these are just some of the ingredients portraid in the movie with a great line up, awsome landscape and fairly good soundtrack. If you ever visit Chile, please see this movie and you'll understand part of the Chilean character and history: under our modern facade, there's still Biancas, Pedros and Truebas. I remember seeing it when it first came out... I was 10. The movie scared the crap out of me! Now I see how funny it is and it sends a clear message about vanity. The actresses play their parts well and Bruce Willis' character is so annoyingly pathetic! I love this movie and I'm so glad I finally bought it.

This is a story of a determined young single mother who as she takes control of her own life, inspires others, including her own children to accomplish amazing things. I love music, and this movie is very inspirational in every way. It shows what a little determination and hard work can accomplish in this life, against all the odds and against a system that is about to crumble. Great family movie. Great acting.

This is a good thriller with lots of creepy touches. Roy Scheider is a recently divorced Manhattan psychiatrist. One of his patients is murdered and both the police and the victim's beautiful girlfriend (Meryl Streep) who seems to be the top suspect contact him. There is an immediate romantic attraction between Scheider and Streep and Scheider attempts to solve the murder using information the deceased man revealed to him during his twice weekly appointments. The most important info is a disturbing dream which is reenacted on screen in a memorable and truly chilling manner. The deceased and Streep's character worked together at "Christen's" auction house specializing in antiquities and much of the film is set in this affluent world of high end art.
