VHS : Guyana Tragedy: Story of Jim Jones
Great actors in this movie, ie..James E. Jones, Rosalind Cash, Irene Cara to say the least. I first saw this movie back in '80. I was a child then and didn't understand much but do remember this storyline being quite chilling. Now many years later I've taken a renewed interest in this story. I've been listening lately to live audio of Jones' sermons and recordings as well as archival footage.
What I don't care much about this movie is the fact that Boothe has no physical resemblance or personality of Jones. I don't think he was the better actor for this role. Also, as stated above, I have been listening to audio and I can tell that there are some discrepancies like words being put in and taken out of the mouths of the people who were actually there. It was quite confusing. For one small ... Read More

VHS : Masters of the Universe
He-Man (Dolph Lundgren), his friends Duncan (Jon Cypher) and Teela (Chelsea Field), and a supposedly comical gnome-like creature must travel from an alternative universe, Eternia, to Earth in order to find "the cosmic key", a multi-dimensional skeleton key that will allow them to rescue their Sorceress from the evil Skeletor (Frank Langella) and save Eternia. While on Earth they team up with two teenagers, Julie (Courtney Cox), who has recently lost her parents in a plane crash, and her boyfriend, aspiring musician Kevin (Robert Duncan McNeill).

I saw this film for the first time when I was about 6 and it was on in cinemas. At that time I religiously watched the He-Man cartoon series and had a collection of He-Man action figures, and thought the film was pretty cool, although, I remember being ... Read More

I'm not as good as Michael Fleischmann at writing without giving away the story. So I'll simply say, after you watch this movie, the more you ponder the more you laugh. I'm a huge fan of Richard Elfman and I've never been dissapointed.

VHS : Carny
Gary Busey and Robbie Robertson hit the nail square on the head in their performance of Carny. Toss in Jodie Foster and you have a real tilt-a-whirl of a ride through the scenes in this movie. I rated it 4 stars and would give it 5 if it was on DVD. I worked several years in a stick joint pulling in quarters with one of the smaller shows. There is a lot of facts based on the carnival life and I was glad to have played a part. You don't see much of the mobster type which was big business several years ago. What you do get is a peek into a life that everyone would like a taste of. This movie is very real for the times it was defining. I've met the real person that the Bozo who Gary played after and he was a total riot. Gary Busey plays him to perfection. You always have to have a straight man and Robbie has that ... Read More

VHS : They Live
This delightfully eerie movie demonstrates that great films are not necessarily pretentious; world-class art can appeal to regular folks; you needn't read John Taylor Gatto to lean the truth about 'Education;" and although you could study "alternative economic history" for months on end at the Yamaguchy website, Mary E. Hobart and David Astle aren't the only reality gurus who can clue you in to what's really going down here on the third stone from the sun. Not at all! John Carpenter manages to do just that in his 95 minute "B-Movie" masterpiece, 'They Live!"

So read the other reviews, form your own opinions, but by all means be sure to see "They Live." And if you are an "art snob" or one of those people who seek cultural justification for pursuing the enjoyable, then consider that what this film divulges ... Read More

VHS : To Catch a Killer
I saw this film when it first came out on television. The film listed on this website is not the complete film. It has been cut from it's original version and format. To Catch A killer was just recienly on the Lifetime channel, and it is spli into to parts. This film is at least almost 4 hours long, and not 95 minutes. Anyone wanted to get this great film starring Brian Dennehey should try to search for the original un-cut version. To Catch A Killer is an intense, and horrifying depiction of the infamous killer (John Wayne Gasey), and the hard working dedicated detectives who built a case and to put this man away in prision where he needed to be.

I have the 95 minute VHS tape, but you are missing some of it's most griping moments in the 4 hour version, that any film collecter should want to own.

VHS : Lady in Waiting
The gorgeous Shannon Whirry keeps the heat turned up in this one as a mysterious lady involved with cop Michael Nouri and maybe involved in some murders. Ms. Whirry is sometimes the sole reason to watch a movie but this time she is in a pretty darn good movie. Good characters and plot with some actual suspense and mystery. Still, Shannon Whirry is worth the price of admission all on her own. She's all that and a bag of chips! Check her out in this hot erotic thriller and see why Joe Bob and I think she's the true Queen of this genre.
