VHS : Catnapped: The Movie (Dub)
Catnapped! was created, written, and directed by Takashi Nakamura. His other notable work was serving as the animation director on Akira.

Catnapped! takes place in a location called Banipal Witt, and its populated by anthropomorphic cats. It is ruled by Buburina, a cruel witch princess who has the ability to turn any living thing into a balloon by simply touching it. She kidnaps a dog named Papadoll, who she intends to use to take over the world. The dog's owners, two kids named Toriyasu and Meeko, must try to turn him back to normal and return him to their world.

The film clocks in at 75 minutes, and I have to give credit to Nakamura for utilizing this short time to the fullest to tell his story. While my children enjoyed watching this film, I felt as if I was ... Read More

VHS : Pokemon - Mewtwo Returns
This is review 4/10. This is an interesting path for Pokemon movies. Although most don't consider it one of the movies. This movie, from what I believe, takes place between Pokemon 3 and Pokemon 4ever. I liked Mewtwo Returns. I thought it was repetitive at times and I miss the CGI from the 'official' movies. However, I thought it was nice to see the return of Mewtwo. I especially like the DVD feature for the uncut story of Mewtwo's origin. I thought that was exciting. By the way, the Pikachu balloon was cute. I also like the fact that Mew wasn't in this movie as a main character.

Then there is Akai's old female friend, Shoko, who dosen't know their secret but is beginning to suspect something is strange about the two. As for why she and everyone eles can't tell just by looking at them...well, I guess it's just like Superman and most super hero stories inspired by it, where you just have to suspend your disbelief and accept that everyone is fooled by the hero's rather transparent disquiese.

Also, the dolls don't want anyone eles finding out about their identity, so they make the threat ... Read More

I have the vhs. This is one of the funniest animes I have seen in a while. Ok lets see there is a girl who likes boys 12 and younger she is kina creepy though. The perveted boy who flirted with the ghost is very funny. The blonde haired boy who only wants a normal school life is the best person in this anime though. I still am laughing even though I am not watching it right now. I still like the Yu-Gi-Oh! mangas better.

VHS : Tenchi in Tokyo, Vol. 1-New Start
Replete with a faintly-altered storlyine and a new artistic style (believe me, there are a lot more animated comic-effects here), Tenchi in Tokyo is perhaps the most interesting and the most humorous of all the Tenchi Muyo reincarnations. The first episode in the collection, "Seperation Anxiety" invokes a sudden change that sets up the series and causes Ryoko & Ayeka sudden shock: Tenchi moves to Tokyo for apprenticeship at the Shinto shrine! We are introduced to a mysterious villain in the succeding episodes, new friends, and perhaps, for Tenchi, a new love interest (and that means, of course, new trouble). You get to see what trouble they all get into (Four's a Crowd was a cool one where this was apparent).

VHS : Tenchi in Tokyo, Vol. 1-New Start

With each remake, Tenchi seems to get weaker. Tenchi in Tokyo is okay, with a few elements that I really liked, but others that I couldn't stand. I can only fear for the latest Tenchi series, which has been released in Japan. Note: this review is a basic overview of the series itself, not just this individual tape.

The basic premise of the series that Tenchi moves to Tokyo, leaving all the girls behind. There, Tenchi meets Sakuya and they fall in love. Meanwhile, back home, all the girls are wildly jealous and are constantly trying to get Tenchi back home, away from the girl. In addition, there is a dark power in the background, trying to tear them apart.

The weakest part of series is definitely the animation. I was used to the rich color pallet and lush ... Read More
