VHS : Mayerling (1968)
I saw the 1968 version of Mayerling in April of 1969 at a base theater
while I was in basic training in the Air Force. I note this because the
subject of the film and its well-dressed actors and its European scenery
were so different from the military surroundings and military "dress"
which I was enduring at the time. I had not heard about the story of
Prince Rudolph and Princess Maria before. But suspected Mayerling's tragic ending from the start, but I think it did take the film a long time to reach its conclusion. However, I believe Mayerling was a visual delight and the musical score was beautiful too.
The cast was excellent with Omar Sharif and Catherine Deneuve along with
Ava Gardner and James Mason. To many the story of these tragic lovers ... Read More

VHS : Beetlejuice (P&S Slip)
Maybe the definitive Burton film (or maybe more like a tie with `Edward Scissorhands'), `Beetlejuice' is a perfect representation of what Tim Burton is all about. It is loud and boisterous and at the same time dark and edgy. The film very much looks and feels like almost everything that comes out of the Burton factory, yet it is surprisingly fresh in a way. Maybe this has to do with the fact that it is one of his earlier works and so the colors and graphics are not as crisp, which adds an almost gothic layer to the films feel.

Then again, maybe it is the mere fact that Michael Keaton gives the best performance in any Burton film; ever.

The film follows Adam and Barbara as they learn to cope with life after death. Yes, a horrific car accident leaves Adam and Barbara dead ... Read More

we'll this movie is worth seeing just for the housekeeper. she's so funny in her character and what she say's in one scene is worth the whole experience of watching it.
it's a little known "B" movie from the 80's and recently released on dvd. there was a whole string of horror movies made around the same time, each has it's own little appeal.
i can't say it's the best horror movie ever but it's worth a viewing. i've seen better and i've definitely seen worse. give it a watch and see for yourself. enjoy.

VHS : Fighter Attack
This is how war movies were made. Simple plot, low budget, repeated scenes from war documentaries and ending that is predicable. It was good to see Sterling Hayden in his prime. Good movie for a collector of old movies.
