VHS : Very Brady Christmas
Our family likes to spend Christmas with the Brady family every holiday season. We bought the video years ago, and would now love to have the DVD. I already have all the seasons of Brady Bunch on DVD, and am not willing to buy the pkg. set for this holiday extra that is included.I thought for sure that it would be offered this Christmas Season, separately.
Bah Humbug to whoever makes these decisions!

VHS : Baby Huey's Great Easter Adventure
My kids (age 2 1/2 & 4) enjoy this cute video. It's live action, with modern looking kids, houses, scenery, etc. I say it's too bad about the title because I think the Easter part will cause people not to consider it except at Easter time, when in fact the story has almost nothing to do with Easter and quite a bit to do with friendship, belonging, kindness, etc. A surprisingly palatable video, with a sub-plot or two so even older kids and parents can enjoy it. I was quite surprised at the quality of the production. My kids enjoy it and I can even stand to sit and watch it with them!

VHS : Fatal Pulse
Not too subtle horror movie, where the murderer kills the girls in different manners. Entertaining, yes. Predictable, yes. But it seems to be intented to be predictable. As if the makers were thinking that "stupid is clever". It kind of works.

The mid-80's was fantastic. Jazzdance, bikes with drop handlebar, jeans that don't fit, t-shirts neatly tucked into the jeans.

A lot of nudity, which of course is morally questionable. At least it serves the overall purpose of the movie. Predictability. All girls who show their breasts on screen get killed, and noone who doesn't. In other words, appearing topless is what the philosophers call "the necessary and sufficient condition" to be killed.

While one may think that conscious predicibility is fun, and that stupidness ... Read More

VHS : Take Down (1979)
Probably the only thing Lorenzo Lamas has done that I was able to take seriously, Takedown is a solid portrayal of a lower working-class teen trying to balance attending high-school with the need to work in order to help support his family. Maureen McCormick plays a classmate who Lamas hopes to...er...'take down'(hee hee). No, actually it's a bittersweet movie about growing up among the have-nots, but finding that what you need was within yourself all along (or some Hallmark card-inspired nonsense like that). Might as well purchase it on VHS, since the likelihood of it ever getting updates to dvd is essentially nil.

I am probably not the best reviewer for this film inasmuch as I am an airline pilot. Since my time is somewhat limited I won't even cover the technical inaccuracies in this film (it would be much quicker to list the accuracies, anyway), but will stick to more purely cinematic issues. This slab of back bacon-flavored cheese was made in Canada for TV and stars a veritable pantheon of B-movie actors, with Kate Jackson taking the helm as the lead flight attendant.

I was originally going to give this film only one star, but decided on awarding a bonus "cliche star" due to it having every hackneyed plot device known to man somewhere within its bowels. The basic premise is this: a 747 takes off from New York with 16 hours of fuel onboard bound for London. In the first 30 seconds or so of flight the ... Read More

I hate to say it, but this movie is precisely what I enjoy about B-Movie horror...buckets upon buckets of blood, characters with little-to-no development (that you'd care about anyway), and willingness to not take the subject material altogether too seriously.

On top of all of that is a genuinely fascinating, though implausible, twist in the narrative. It's quite wonderful.

I would sincerely recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys horror and comedy.

I remember watching this with my sisters growing up! It's a good story with good music. Maybe not oscar-worthy, but a fun watch nonetheless.
