VHS : Fried Green Tomatoes
Fried Green Tomatoes starring Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy is definitely a chick flick to say the least. I like this weepy drama but this film is a little too long and depressing. I do appreciate the great acting and friendship concept, watch this film with a best friend. Rent it sometime.

VHS : Place for Annie
I had to watch this movie in my Child Development & Psychology class. I must say, it gets to one's heart easily. I was one of the few that actually cried in class. The acting was rather decent; it was an enjoyable cast. Annie was so adorable! I really loved the interaction between everyone and Annie's biological mother... It was an interesting take on things. It was rather sugar-coated in that department, though. Nevertheless, it's a good movie to sit down and watch for a few good cries.

VHS : Let the Devil Wear Black
Although the title of Stacy Title's 1999 film noir reinvention of the great bard's Hamlet may be the best thing about the film, it at least makes for an interesting viewing. Title takes Shakespeare's classic and updates it to a sleazy, dark, hot and decadent modern LA (which when you think about it, is not much a stretch). It's a well made film with some very creative, if not haunting flashback and dream sequences. The cast and their performances, for the most part is top notch. In small roles, Jacqueline Bisset and Mary-Louise Parker shine. Parker, who plays the drug and dog food sampling Julia/Ophelia, is the most sympathetic character in the film among a company of sociopaths, drug dealers, criminals and complete losers.

There lies the problem with the film. The characters are for the most part ... Read More

I have just received this video, My player allowes playback PAL and NTSC system. Looking for so long to find it. Thanks Amazon!!!
This movie gives you the perfect inside on what is really important in life. No, not the money or the rush or the importance of an ambitious carreer. It's the search for the soul and human being behind all that, behind a person. What does really matter in life?. This movie opens up your heart and after watching it, you will keep asking yourself these questions: What is love, what is important in life....or in my life.
Don't think it is all so sweet an brushed up in this movie.
Sidney Poitier will take care of that. Great actor. But also MaryLouise Parker acts so well. Her innocense and belief in the goodness of people will help you to get into the story and to finally ... Read More

I really didn't think this was a nice adaption from the book. It was too short. But as far as the casting of the characters was concerned, that was very nice. I remember saying to myself while watching, "That is exactly what I thought Lucy should look like."

But then again, Saint Maybe is one of my very most favorite books, so of course I'm critical. It didn't really live up to my expectations

Saw the movie again today. I did enjoy how the stories intersected. No matter what you think we are not islands. We do influence each other for good or for bad. I am not used to R rated movies anymore so the F-bombs and profanity was very offputting. The thing that I can reccomend without reservation is the soundtrack. It was still as awesome to the story as I remember. Put that on your i-pod and crank up the Bose speakers. Phenonmenal!

The remake of Michael Mann's "Manhunter" and the second adaptation of Thomas Harris' novel of the same name is no dissapointment. THe film boasts more than exceptional acting, highly inquisitive writing and solid directing throughout. Let's break this down so you can truly see what I mean.

The Acting: Edward Norton (Fight Club, American History X) stars as F.B.I. Special Agent Will Graham, and plays him perfectly. You would'nt want anyone else in the role as Norton fills it respectably as usual. The great Anthony Hopkins (Bram Stoker's Dracula) returns for the third time to the role which won him the Academy Award for Best Actor back in 1991 for Jonathan Demme's The Silence of the Lambs. He's perfect, as expected. The highlight of the show, however, is British actor Ralph Fiennes (Schindler's List) as psychotic, deranged killer ... Read More
