My favorite movie of all time. I'm a classic movie buff and this story is warm, serious and funny all at once. Great acting. Great entertainment. Wonderful dialog.

VHS : Breakfast at Tiffany's
The movie is a classic, just a bad one. It's been a while since I've seen it, but the other reviews really helped jog my memory. The movie was shallow and contrived. The main character of a movie should be liked by the audience, but Holly failed to catch my attention or respect. Her unhappiness and lack of self confidence is no excuse for her selfishness. I might have given this move a 3 star if not for the hype. The over the top praise this movie has recieved is unbelievable! I can't help being disappointed in the people who gave it a 5 star. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but still. I agree with a reviewer who wrote that Breakfast at Tiffany's is so beloved because Audrey Hepburn is in it and because the movie is in color. It's pretty irritating that some people would judge a movie ... Read More

Dustin Hoffman is great in this classic Western. It's one of the best Westerns out there. Hoffman plays a cavalry man who ends up living among the Native Americans. It's a bitter story of how poorly and unjustly were these people treated. Unfortunately, they're not faring much better today and the government does not treat them better either. There are some truths in this movie that we're still not willing to face and come to grips with today. This should be a required material for school kids and grown ups alike. We'd be much more grateful for what we have instead of complaining for what we can't buy if we thought about these things more.

VHS : Psycho (1960)
I have never forgotten this movie from the first time I saw it in a theater. The shower scene scared me along with a lot of others there. At the time I had a Ford like Janet Leigh drove in the movie and would not open the trunk for a couple of weeks. I have it on tape and just had to add the Special Edition to my DVD collection of Hitchcock movies. It is one of his best. The fools that thought they could remake this movie were nuts. Part of what makes the movie so good is that it is in black and white. Besides no one can out do the master when it comes to mystery and the way he seemed to know the best actors for the roles. No one was as good at playing a Psycho as Tony Perkins.

This movie is a really powerful demonstration of the "art" of movie making as it is hard to find today. Pure content, no special effects, a simple setting - yet extremely exciting, makes you wanna continue watching until the last minute. A true classic!

VHS : Seven Days in May (B&W)
Some of the best actors in Hollywood are in this film, but the best performance, as far as I am concerned is by Burt Lancaster. When I read this book and saw the movie as a teenager, it scared me to death to think how easy it would have been to topple our government. I would highly recommend this movie for any age range, with the caveat that reading the book first would enhance the experience.

All the President's Men (Two-Disc Special Edition)
Another one of my Dad's favorite movies. He was in college during the Watergate Scandal and followed it thoroughly. I saw the movie from his collection. The EXCELLENT FILM is based on the story of two reporters for the Washington Post, Carl Bernstein(Dustin Hoffman) and Robert Woodward(Robert Redford), who stumbled across a potential lead for a story that snow-balled, to their continued horror, to the incrimination of and forced resignation of President, Richard Nixon. Fed by the mysterious "Deep Throat", Bernstein and Woodward put their own pieces together, sold two and a half million copies of the Post and won a Pulitzer Prize. The script by William Goldman and based on Bernstein's and Woodward's book, is COMPLETELY CREDIBLE as it deals with incredible ... Read More

VHS : Harlow (1965)
Jean Harlow was an A picture star for MGM who filmed with Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, and William Powell. No mention of them in the film. Here, she's just a bitchy B picture star for Majestic Studios, holding her professional virginity from a B cowboy star played by Mike Connors and making her queer husband Paul Berns (Peter Lawford) impotent. The real Jean Harlow had more dignity in her pinky finger than the character Carroll Baker portrays with her usual display of hysterics granted by a trashy script.
