VHS : The Man Who Loved Cat Dancing
This is a wonderful movie and I don't understand why is has not been released on DVD years ago. It was one of Burt Reynolds best films, one that he should be proud to have released on DVD for all to see and let those that have not seen it find out just how great of a movie it really is.
This is one person that hopes it is released very soon, because it is one movie I will purchase ASAP...
Thanks
Someone who loves this movie........

VHS : Blues Brothers
When Jake and Elwood Blues are reunited after Jake's stint in Joliet, Jake finds that the beloved Bluesmobile has been replaced by a former City of Mount Prospect police car, and the Blues Brothers Band has been disbanded.

They visit "the penguin," the nun who runs the orphanage where they grew up, only to find that the orphanage will be shut down unless they come up with $5000 in back taxes. Since she vetoes any suggestion of ill-gotten gains, Jake comes up with a plan: put the band back together.

From then on it's non-stop action, laughs, and music, as they're "on a mission from God" to collect the former band members one by one, equip them, then try to get enough gigs to earn the money. Along the way, they also collect quite a trail of people out to get them: a mystery ... Read More

Well, I can finally say I saw 'Free Willy'! Family friendly film with a simple story. It's easy to watch and it will keep the kids happy. I bought the triple feature with all 3 films for under $10.00, it's hard to go wrong for that price! The DVD set has very good transfers for all 3 films.

"Scared Stiff" is a remake of a 1940s Bob Hope comedy called "The Ghost Breakers" which was directed by George Marshall, who also happened to direct this version as well.

I'm just going to jump right into the flaws of the film. First of all I'd just like to say Bob Hope, was one of my favorite comedians. Hope had a natural gift for comedy. His delivery for handling a one-liner has only only been matched by Groucho Marx. There was something about the sound of his voice, his breezy attitude, his facial expressions that made jokes that were really not that funny work. Only Bob Hope could tell a "Bob Hope joke". And in "Scared Stiff" the script follows "The Ghost Breakers" verbatim. Martin and Lewis shift positions on playing the Bob Hope character. Martin though is given most of the lines ... Read More

VHS : Ellen Foster
The Movie "Ellen Foster" followed the journey that a young abused girl takes to find a place to call home. Based on the book written by Kaye Gibbons, this horrifying but yet modern story makes the common day person thankful for their wonderful but not perfect life. With both famous screen stars such as Jena Malone and Amanda Peet and debuting cast such as Allison Jones, this movie is definetly one to put in a time capsul. Honorable mentions also include Kate Burton, Ted Levine, Julie Harris, Debra Monk, Glynnis O'Connor and director John Erman. With a star studded cast list and amazing author of the movie's base, this movie is set for life.

Ellen Hammond (Malone) was a young girl with adult-like maturity. Many children her age had never seen or felt what she had. When the movie opens, we ... Read More

This bloodless production's period costume design, cars, TV newscasts and popular music do nothing to make it seem like anything other than a product of this torpid decade; you can't sell a counterfeit 1988 to a fledgling of that enormous, tacky era. If I want '80s teen angst or surrealism, I'll consult the genuine article and watch some old David Lynch or John Hughes films (separately), all of which have what this film doesn't: character, substance and zeitgeist without all the hokey pretension of this boring, distended exercise.

The novelty of this movie's time-travel plot gimmick can't sustain its numerous uninspired scenarios, complete dearth of appealing and interesting characters, vast array of moronic clichés and Maggie Gyllenhaal, who is surely the most irritating actress in recent memory.

VHS : Bastard Out of Carolina
I was born and raised in South Carolina in 1953 but left when I was sixteen years old...so I thought it might be interesting to watch this movie. I was wrong. This movie is really not a pleasant movie to watch. But for the fact that it is supposed to be based on fact, I am not sure I would find watching it of any worthwhile value. It reminded me of the movie, Rosewood. Truth or not, I mean what's the point to making movies of this stuff.

VHS : Big Sleep (1946)
Humphrey Bogart was probally the big screen's best reprsentive of the hard boiled prive eye, and this film gave him a superlative chance to demonstrate this. the film has been critized for failing to tie up some loose ends-a murder never gets solved, for example-but that aspect simply makes it more realistic. In real life, you always get things that don't add up or fit the general picture. So it's actually more realistic than a move that pretneds to answer all the questions. A superlative movie.

VHS : Long Day Closes
Entering puberty is Hell! Do you remember? Do you recall the last days of your innocent years before the conflicted feelings hit? "The Long Day Closes" is a tender and intimate portrait of the long last year in the life of 11-year old, Bud, before "the long day closes" on his formative years and he enters that new time in life. It is 1955, and Bud lives in his modest Kensington townhome. He has a loving Mam,two virile older brothers and an older sister. It is never explained where Dad is; he just simply is not.
Like the rest of Terence Davies written and directed films, we are allowed to feel and experience Bud's last year of childhood through a stream of song, movie clips, bullying at school, intense religious training, beatings by schoolteachers, and the tenderness of women. While in school one day, the teacher's ... Read More
