I have to admit that I didn't like this film the first time I watched it as I didn't really appreciate the documentary style layout and it seemed a little slow to develop. Now that I've seen it again after a few years, I've actually come to like this a lot as I realise that this is a very unique film with a very good storyline and good acting as well as it describes the lives of High School graduates/dropouts and their very real sense of loss having to leave the safe/secure comfort zone of school to face the real world with all its uncertainty and callousness.

One character actually manages to take the leap albeit with great reluctance and after great difficulty soul-searching while another doesn't quite make it at least yet. I can actually see myself returning to this film ... Read More

Well the only reason i give this movie a 4 star is because it lets you know where everything ends up (which is exactly what it sumed up at the end of the first movie) This movie is a far cry from the first. NO 55 chevy and the 32 coupe is always parked in this one. It is worth seeing once to see what happens from the first but not going to be one of my faverate movies

On a back shelf in a hippie style book store i came accross this film. Reading the back of the box sparked my curiousity. Yes, this movie has some very funny moments, but i believe there to be some strong messages in this film about being alone, and how vulnerable we are to be needed in the world. All three main characters are alone in life, and they meet many bizarre characters on their road trip that are as alone and troubled as they are. I won't spoil anything, but there is a nerdy small town teenager who shows up in the film who has a horribley funny line about 'Grape Fruits'. This is a rare film, and probably will never get the recognition it deserves.

This movie was so compelling, I could relate to Terry-Jean's troubles only I never went to prison, but my life was pretty bad growing up! This movie shows that despite the worst circumstances, you can overcome anything if you are strong enough to fight for yourself! I only wish they would make a D.V.D to keep up with the new technology, I can't wait to get this movie, I just ordered it, and I haven't seen it since 1988 on television, I was oly thirteen, and I'm just turning thirty this summer so I know I can really understand this movie better than I did as a child, I'm sure I missed a lot of important things That perhaps I didn't understand at the time. Anyone considering seeing this movie will not be disapointed.......

I was just a kid when this TV movie originally aired but it made an enormous impression on me. The acting was absolutely first rate, the sets well done and the music unforgettable. For years I looked for it on VHS format and more recently, DVD. I'm overjoyed that this wonderfully underrated film is finally available on DVD. Hip Hip Hooray!

So many made-for-TV historical films are pure garbage in terms of accurate history. This movie does not make that mistake. The main characters are portrayed accurately, warts and all. Edward Herrman makes a great Roosevelt, perhaps the best fictional FDR we've ever experienced, including Ralph Bellamy. And Jane Alexander's Eleanor is flawless. She is cold, insecure and formal, yet possessing a hidden warmth and neediness exemplified by the actual Mrs. Roosevelt. ... Read More
