The movie arrived in good condition and quickly. The only problem was, I had ordered the older version of the movie (1949), not the 1994 version.

VHS : Sweethearts (1938)
Now that ive seen this movie in color, im glad Louis b Mayer was cheap and
made all the previous Jeanette and Nelson movie in black and white.
Maybe one day they will be collorized and i will get both versions.
Sweethearts plays almost like the real life of this couple. Hounded down
all the times to perform, and the plots taken by their management to keep
them.
With color we now see Jeanette and Nelson in a different atmostphere.
We see more of the makup, and more things jump out because of the color.
Im so used to see them in different era costumes, that seeing them
as normal was kind of a shock.
Sooooo the movie sweathearts is good,,,but not as good as their other
movies together.

I have watched this movie many times. I am very intrigued by the acting and how it different it compares to today's acting, the runway show, the styles, everything. Although, I'm pretty sure if my hubby cheated on me, we'd be done...otherwise, this is a movie right? I loved it!

This remake of the 1931 filmed version of Robert Sherwood's play about the doomed romance of a WWI military officer and a streetwalker, is a classic tragic romance that sanitizes the original, but is distinguished by lovely performances and exquisite black and white cinematography. It is really a pitch perfect tearjerker for the period.

Vivien Leigh is heartbreaking as ballerina turned prostitute Myra, and if possible, even more beautiful than she was in Gone With The Wind. Her acting here is a far cry from the exuberance, and bold colors of a Scarlett O'Hara. Myra's emotional palette is muted, but the shifts from melancholia, to hopefulness, to despair are done flawlessly and show Leigh's great range as an actress. Robert Taylor as Captain Cronin is a fine romantic partner although at times he seems to ... Read More

This is a delightful presentation of the charming Errol Flynn. He's his normal carefree self with the twist of a author/mystery solving (on the side)character. It's nice seeing him in a current up to date movie. I love the relationship between all the people in the movie. Brenda Marshall is wonderful as his wife who is clueless as to what he's up to. I could watch this movie over and over again. I feel like we are seeing the real Errol Flynn, I'm not sure why but he's very believable in this role.
