VHS : The Lonely Lady
Let no one say that this Harold Robbins show biz potboiler doesn't begin with a bang: On the very day that Valley High student Pia Zadora wins an award as "most promising English major," she parties with fast Beverly Hills High students, one of whom --- weed-smoking Ray Liotta --- fondles her award and proclains its resemblance to a member of the male anatomy, fondles her breast ("Valley girls are anxious to please!"), throws her onto the lawn ("I'm gonna give you something special!"), and rapes her with the nearby garden hose. All this in the film's first fifteen minutes! (You may think it can't possibly continue at this crazed, trashy pace --- but you are wrong: In the seventy-six minutes left, there are eight nude love scenes, two lesbian encounters, two showers, one hot tub, one Jacuzzi, and ... It was in 1990 I first heard the Ruminators opening for Tempest, if I recall. They had a very unique sound that really grooved. Soft, airy, but down to earth. I bought their first CD and loved it, especially their remake of the Beatles "You Can't Do That," which is one of the very few times that someone has done a better job of a remake.

This new album is most excellent, and they sound excellent. The songs flow together quite nicely and it's a real pleasure to listen to.

VHS : John & Yoko: Love Story
i loved this movie- have already watched it twice. i have seen other actors "portray" john, but this actor seems to me to have done one of the best, if not the best, portraits of john. the actor is very good at conveying many emotions, seemingly very much like we would think john may have reacted. mannerisms are amazing, but the acting depth really makes this a cut above the made-for -t.v. movie that it is.

the detail is spot on, for fans who are familiar with the scenes, clothing, etc. of the time periods depicted. at times the tableau is right out of a photograph, recreated. amazing. john and yoko's music is used in various ways all through the movie, to great effect. the heartbreaking ending is mostly left to our imaginations and our pained recollections of that night....

VHS : King of the Gypsies
This movie was just outstanding and an overlooked and forgotten classic. The movie was just a fascinating look at the world of the Gypsies in America. A very young Eric Roberts shines as the grandson of the King of the Gypsies brilliantly played by the legendary Sterling Hayden. Judd Hirsh of Taxi fame is great as Roberts buffoon of a father who's jealous and brutish ways tear his family apart. You will also see Susan Sarandon and a very young Brooke Shields.

This movie ranks right up there with the best of the best in my opinion. The costumes, the cinematography and the casting was tops. Combine all that with an interesting and compelling story and you have a classic film.

VHS : Best of Roger Rabbit
This is better than "Oswald The Lucky Bunny" (Wich Walt Disney STOLE for the design for Mickey!). It is just simple slapstick but that is all you really need in a Roger Rabbit cartoon. In the third cartoon is where the problems started, a five second spoof of Jaws caused Disney to stop creating those shorts. In all the cartoons, if you have a good VCR you will find several hidden images

Tummy Trouble
1) Atomic Hair Splitter says made in germany

2) Roger falling through ceiling - cut-outs change

3) Roger coliding with old lady - Old lady beats up Roger

Roller Coaster Rabbit

Couldn't find any

Trail Mix-up
1) Roger spitting out bees - Bees look like certain Disney characters

2) Roger on log Flume - Sign on back of log "We visited splash mountain"

VHS : Insignificance
In this quirky highly original film director Nicolas Roeg posits the theoretical question, what would happen if Albert Einstein, Marilyn Monroe, Joe DiMaggio and Senator Joe McCarthy were all gathered together in the same hotel room for one evening in 1953?

An eclectic gathering indeed. If it helps you to conceptualize where this film is headed, think of this as an evening of psychotherapy for the rich and famous. Marilyn wants to be loved for her brain, yet continually relies on her sex appeal for attention. Her husband and sports legend Joe DiMaggio wants to express his deep feelings of love for his wife but can't seem to express himself without a pack of baseball cards in his hand. Meanwhile Senator Joe McCarthy is busy scowling and perfusely sweating as he continues a campaign of threats and intimidation against everyone ... Read More

VHS : We'll Meet Again (5pc)
I was so disappointed with this series---usually the Brits do a much better job. This was worse than American daytime TV soap operas! The acting is appalling and stilted, which is a shame because there are some decent actors in the show. Apparently they couldn't make sense of the awful script and terrible writing. The last show should have tied up all the loose ends but instead leaves viewers hanging by a very thin thread--perhaps they made a sequel I'm not aware of. At any rate, it is simply dreadful except for the actual footage of WWII flight action scenes woven into the film--that was a nice touch.
