I don't like abridged novels and films that are chopped to pieces are in the same category. This shortened version lacks the depth of the original full version film. The full version film should be considered an all time classic.

VHS : America America (B&W)
This is a extremely powerful and absorbing movie that is recommended to anyone who has ever had a hunger to achieve something worthy.
It is rightfully called a masterpiece by many.

The characters are very believable and interesting. One can feel the absolute frustration in the main character. He is an individual with obvious flaws which make him ever so much human and not some 2 dimensional hero. Along his struggle-filled journey, he meets a kaleidoscope of other complex characters, all very well portrayed.

The soundtrack is very evocative yet very subtle and adds just the right flavor to the movie like oregano to spaghetti sauce.

The pace of the movie is at times slow, at times fast but the tempo is always appropriate for the scene.

This is one of those ... Read More

This funky bunch is better than his first funky bunch and this movie is hilarious and should be seen by any fan of Mr. Wahlberg.

Lou Diamond and the other two give a pretty standard performance for their careers. OWN IT!!!

VHS : Star Trek - The Original Series, Episode 70: Let That Be Your Last Battlefield
Subtle is the last possible word that could be used to describe this episode. It is blunt and a bit over the top in making a point about race hatred. It all begins with the Enterprise pursuing a shuttlecraft stolen from Starbase 4. After a tractor beam brings the craft on board the Enterprise, a being from Cheron (Lokai), with one side of his face white and the other black, staggers out and collapses on the deck. He is immediately taken to sick bay where Spock and McCoy are in agreement that his coloration is a genetic anomaly, a one-of-a-kind. When Lokai awakens, he is arrogant, feeling that it was his need that gave him the right to use the shuttlecraft.
The Enterprise proceeds on mission when an unknown vessel approaches. While the sensors can detect it, there is no visual confirmation and when the vessel ... Read More

As I recall, this movie is downright awful, and I'm a big FRED WILLIAMSON/Black Action fan... I remember having to force myself to stay awake and to this day can't remember much about the plot beyond "jewel thief"/"hitman"/made in Italy (?) - - there's two reasons to watch it, however...

Funky Soundtrack by the OHIO PLAYERS ! ! !
RARE Cameo appearence by the OHIO PLAYERS in their mid-70s peek ! ! !

Can't beat that... even if the appearence is only a couple of minutes !

In addition to the fine acting (Shelley Winters and Mike Kellin) and script, don't overlook the Brubeck soundtrack (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074963/soundtrack -- not available on CD) that sets the mood, time, and place perfectly.

A gem of a film.
