VHS : A House Divided
Talk about living history... I've read all the books about this family and I live in the house David built for his daughter Amanda in 1871. I can look out my window and see the spot where David's childhood home once stood. I even met Jennifer Beals when she came to see the house and the land. Although not filmed here, the movie was great - although it did take a little dramatic license. It was known Julia held a very high position of authority, very rare for a woman, much less a black slave woman. It was also apparent David felt much love for his bi-racial daughter Amanda. Only two people know the truth of nature of the relationship between David and Julia that brought Amanda into existence, if indeed David was the father. (He was married for several years and never produced children.) ... Read More

VHS : Halloween H20
Halloween H20 is the worst horror flick ever! I can't believe Jamie Lee Curtis reprised her iconic role as Laurie Strode. Halloween is such a classic film, all the sequels are stupid and not even scary. Josh Hartnett and Michelle Williams over do it here, the whole Laurie and Michael Myers are brother and sister is so calculated, I didn't like Halloween 2 and I don't like this one either.

VHS : Jackie Brown
Quinton Tarantino is one of those directors you either love or hate, but there is no denying that he has talent, and what makes his talent even more obvious is his rich sense of style. Tarantino has a very unique charm that he layers his films with, giving them such warm originality.

Much like with directors Baz Luhrmann and David Fincher, a Quinton Tarantino film is undeniably a film by Quinton Tarantino.

With that said; the fact that some have criticized `Jackie Brown' for being a change of pace or unlike Tarantino's more successful films (`Pulp Fiction' and `Reservoir Dogs') is rather preposterous, for if you truly look at the film in all it's technical aspects you can't help but see Tarantino shining through in every frame.

Tell me what you think of this plot: A child comes back to life to confront the mother who cut her throat, only she is a grown woman, but still talks like a child. Meanwhile this so-called ghost manages to seduce her mother's "boyfriend" who has come back after 18 years. The ghost manages to get pregnant by him. Then the "ghost", totally naked and pregnant is brought out on the front porch by her mother and disappears in a couple of minutes when a group of church ladies start chanting and singing spiritual songs from the road in front of the house. Then the mother goes into depression for having lost the child that has come back to her and her other daughter goes to work for rich white folks to support herself and her mother. That's Beloved in a nutshell. And let's not forget another ghost that you don't ... Read More

VHS : True Crime (1999)
I have never been a Clint Eastwood fan, neither disliking him or liking him, however, this movie was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. I thought it was well written, well acted and I really liked the ending. It might've been "predictable" to some but I wasn't sure how it would turn out. I thought it had a great storyline and wasn't at all predictable. (You figure it will be a 50/50 chance of how it ends and if THAT makes it predictable, then I suppose it was). It's a good, interesting movie with a good ending. Plain and simple.
