VHS : Jett Jackson: Movie
"Jett Jackson The Movie" is like a cross between "The Parent Trap" and "Pleasantville". Filmed near the end of the Disney Channel series "The Famous Jett Jackson", it expands the series premise to a new feature length movie (this is all new stuff-not a group of old episodes edited together). As in the series, Lee Thompson Young plays the title character-a high school student who is also the star of a futuristic television series where he plays a teen action hero named Silverstone. At the beginning of the movie he is struggling with whether to renew his contract with the show, which is seriously cramping his school and social life. Meanwhile on the show his Silverstone character is unhappy working at Mission Omega Matrix.

One day on the set a malfunctioning prop transports him to ... Read More

VHS : American Psycho 2
This film is in stark contrast to the Original "American Psycho," which had good actors, story, and philosophical depth, whereas this so-called sequel was almost a complete waste. However, WILLIAM SHATNER has a big role in this film and therefore, this movie, (despite the fact that it's an insult to the original... poorly written, doesn't even have a remotely believable plot and is one of the crappiest movies of all time...) is still worth watching because, thanks to the Shat, it has cult appeal. Not the kind of cult appeal that the original has, no, but cult appeal nonetheless. Just do yourself a favor and watch this piece of crap when it comes free to on demand cable or something. Don't pay money for it Not even a dollar. You'd be better off buying a lottery ticket. I give this film ... Read More

VHS : Wrong Turn (2003)
The story of a group of young adults who get stranded and massacred in the woods of West Virginia by a trio of inbred killers. I liked it very much. After hearing alot of negative remarks about it, I was surprised at how suspenseful it was. Many said it was like the 2003 remake of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre which is true assuming you don't watch either film. That's like saying That Fright Night and Dracula are the same, it makes you sound like an idiot. Wrong Turn has more in common with The Hills Have Eyes than any other movie as far as the plot. That is not to say that they are the same, or even derivative. If you've missed either you should see both, it would make for an awesome double-feature. The great thing about Wrong Turn is that it's done with modern effects and a good budget, but it's 70's ... Read More

George A. Romero discovered a universal truth: Zombies rock. What's not to love? Shambling, animated corpses with a taste for living flesh? Desperate survivors with trigger happy fingers decapitating said zombies with rusty machetes or well-aimed head shots? Zombies piling up like chords of wood? And the screaming!

It's like Christmas at the organ donor shop.

Romero's original "Dawn of the Dead" made in 1978 is a lot of things: horrifying, taboo-shattering, gory, and disturbing. It's also horror camp at its finest - skewering the mass consumer culture of the United States in our most shallow of decades: the 1970s.

Romero has a gleefully good time with his pack of survivors holed up in an indoor shopping mall. The slow-moving zombies that bang into the display cases ... Read More

VHS : Teenage Space Vampires
Don't buy this movie thinking that it will be some real thriller with a lot of blood and guts. It was released by Pulsepounders, a Canadian film company which produces family film horror.

Thouroughly entrenched in the PG range, this is more Goosebumps than Scream and that's a good thing for parents with kids into the horror genre.

A teenage boy uses his wits and the support of his family to save his town from a coven of Vampires. The special effects aren't great, the costumes aren't either, but it serves its purpose of edge-of-the-seat, while at the same time still safe, entertainment a parent can safely let their child watch without worrying it will warp them.

VHS : Hollywood North
HOLLYWOOD NORTH looked hilarious on the trailer I saw; the whole movie however is not what I expected. It's humor lies in the satirical look at how Hollywood can mess up a movie. Matthew Modine plays quite well the producer, Bobby, who gets the rights to a huge Canadian bestseller called "Lantern Moon." However, he is told by the investors and his executive producer (Alan Thicke) that they want a Hollywood star in the lead. This leads Modine to sign the egocentric, near lunatic Michael Baytes (played to perfection by Alan Bates). Bates is wrapped up in the Iranian hostage situation (movie is set in 1979) and he becomes convinced that the Iranians are plotting against him as well. He demands a rewrite, which ultimately has nothing to do with the original "Lantern Moon." The title is changed to "Flight to Bogota" and the ... Read More
