VHS : Children of the Corn
This film is an absolute classic. I've seen this film numerous times and I never get tired of it. Both Courtney Gains (Malichi) and John Franklin (Issac) are great actors who should have won awards for their performances. On top of the acting, my copy of this film is autographed by the music composer, who is also my science teacher's husband. So that fact alone make this film extra special to watch.

VHS : A Night of Love
This movie is a sort of a mess, but it did inspire one of the actors, Simon Callow, to write one of the best books on the process of filmmaking, "Shooting the Actor." His unhappy recollections are punctuated by comments by the movie's director, and the two have irreconcilable but instructive differences in discussing what actually happened on the set.

So if obstreperous Balkan humor about sex and politics is your bag, this movie is as good as any other, but read Callow's book along with it, and you'll thank your lucky stars your fantasy of becoming a movie actor never came true.

VHS : Mr Love (1985)
Mr love is a great film in many ways. There is a lot of tragedy and hope in the film, and I feel the strength of the film is the realism and great characters. They are vulnerable and real, and some of the set pieces are incredibly funny. I still think about the scene when Mr Love starts to do the mating dance of a spider, to seduce his girlfriend - it is brilliant. This film goes down as one of my best, and shows many facets of our human nature. My last words are, see this film its a classic and is a brilliant story to show; one mans search for love.

directed by: Michael Crichton

VHS : Westworld
Filmed by the late Michael Critchton and a stone-faced performance by Yul Brynner as the unstoppable gunslinger, WESTWORLD is, though somewhat dated, a real wild ride. James Brolin and Richard Benjamin go to an ultra-high tech amusement park for a vacation -- it consists of Roman World, Medeviel World and West World. Each is inhabited by robots who are dead ringers for human and to provide thrilling entertainment with no harm to the guests. Brolin and Benjamin go to Westworld to live out their fantasy in the old west and that's when things go nuts. No extras and not the best transfer but still a must for any scifi dvd collection.

VHS : Street Law
I found this movie to get a bit confusing at times, unless you pay complete attention. The story, though a bit original, gets exciting at times, then a little draggy. Its about a lawyer named John (Jeff Wincott - Mission of Justice, The Killing Man, Deadly Bet) who goes to great lengths to make sure justice is served, even if it means going broke and borrowing money from crazy loan sharks. When he finally loses his job completely, John turns to his old friend Lewis (Paco Christian Prieto - Only The Strong, Champions) to help him get some money and repay his debts. Lewis forces John to fight in several ring fights, and John learns of the misdeed his old pal is involved with, forcing justice to once again be served. Interesting story, but felt inconsistent throughout.

Honestly, I bought the movie for 2 reasons - martial ... Read More

VHS : The Tenant of Wildfell Hall
"The Tenant of Wildfell Hall," a feature-length 1996 television costume drama produced by the British Broadcasting Corporation, was seen here on broadcast TV in 1997. It was based upon the little-known book of the same name, published in 1848, by the Victorian-era British author Anne Bronte. She is the least-known of the three famous Bronte sisters, all of whom specialized in moody works set on England's scenic moors, upon which they were raised. Emily Bronte, of course, gave us "Wuthering Heights;" Charlotte, "Jane Eyre." And some of us probably can't help thinking that were Anne not a Bronte, this work would neither have survived, nor have been adapted for television, as it's rather heavy going.

It concerns Helen Huntingdon, in flight from an alcoholic, brutal, but wealthy and high-status husband, Arthur Huntington. She ... Read More
