I was stationed on this type ship for three years during the Korean War. The USS Union AKA 106 & USS Seminole AKA 108. This is the type in the movie and gives a very accurate portrail of the way it was. A very good movie with fine actors and great story line. Well worth seeing. It brought back great memories for me. Loved running the vp's & M boats. The ships of this type hauled every thing from cherry pickers and bull dozers to seal skins from far off Alaskan waters. We also hauled trucks, tanks & prisoners of war. The movie shows it all.The officers I served with may not resemble Jeff Chandler but he did a great job in his roll as captain.

VHS : The Executioner of Venice
Internet Database User Comment - If you do not like low-budget, early 60s dubbed Italian costumed historical adventures, you won't like this one either. However, for fans of the genre, THE EXECUTIONER OF VENICE is top-notch entertainment with nice Venetian settings, lots of court intrigue and duplicity, and two of the finest American expatriate actors in 60s eurocinema--Lex Barker as the hero, Sandrigo Bembo, adopted son of the Doge of Venice, and Guy Madison as the tracherous grand inquisitor, Rodrigo Zeno. Director Luigi Capuano specialized in this sort of adventure in the early 60s, working with Barker in 1960s TERROR OF THE RED MASK, and after this film, making four films with Guy Madison. Just prior to this one, he made two with Gordon Scott--MASK OF THE MUSKETEERS and LION OF ST. MARK ... Read More

VHS : Castle of the Walking Dead
When you find yourself beginning to laugh at a horror film, then you know the whole thing is a sham. All the ingrediants are here that go to make up a film of this type, but there is no substance, and the whole thing is a drag. It's badly produced, badly dubbed and the music is awful. Even the presence of Christopher Lee cannot save this film, and it was said that he was sceptical about doing it in the first place. Not without good reason. The film is supposed to be based on the Edgar Alan Poe story 'The Pit and the Pendulum' but that is just an excuse to feature a swinging pendulum forever getting closer to our hero, who although tied up is still able to fling a stone at it, and throw it off course. There is nothing to commend this film.

VHS : Winnetou and Shatterhand in the Valley of Death
There's rarely a dull moment in this German-produced, filmed-in-Yugoslavia western based on a Karl May book. Pierre Brice and Lex Barker once again appear as "Winnetou" and "Shatterhand" but leading lady Karin Dor provides most of the acting spark. Perhaps the film's chief point of interest is the flogging Clarke Reynolds undergoes at the hands of bad-guy Battaglia. According to the book "Lash! The Hundred Great Scenes of Men Being Whipped in the Movies," this ranks as the screen's #1 flogging.

VHS : Return of the Bad Men
RKO Pictures presents "RETURN OF THE BADMEN" (1948) 90 mins/B&W) (Dolby digitally remastered) --- Starring Randolph Scott, Robert Ryan, Anne Jeffreys, George 'Gabby' Hayes, Robert Ryan & Lex Barker --- Directed by Ray Enright and released in July 17, 1948, our story line and film, Randolph Scott plays US Marshal Vance, assigned to rid the Oklahoma Territory of outlaws ... This proves to be quite a challenge, inasmuch as virtually every frontier bad man has converged upon the territory. Led by the surly Sundance Kid (Robert Ryan), the rogue's gallery includes the Younger Brothers (Steve Brodie, Richard Powers, Robert Bray), the Daltons (Lex Barker, Walter Reed, Michael Harvey) and Billy the Kid (Dean White) --- The genesis of this film can be traced to the success of 1947's "Badman's Territory". ... VHS : Woman Times Seven
A collection of 7 short stories about 7 totally different female characters. Supporting cast is superb, Alan Arkin, Peter Sellers, Micheal Caine, Rosanno Bratzi, etc.Maclaine does a wonderful job of capturing the differences amoung woman, along with making the audience feel empathy for all of her character's situations. Lots of marvelous scenes in this movie. The rich socialite dress fiasco and the italian philanderer are my favorites.
