Well, I have to kick myself in the butt.. The Stepfather series is perhaps the best slasher series since the original psycho. Although pt 2 and 3 had been released on dvd, I hesitated on purchaseing them due to hoping the 1st movie would be released, which it never has. Now that I have waited, it looks like pt 2 and 3 are soon to be no longer avaliable on dvd... Does this mean that there will be a boxed set released with pt 1, 2, and 3 together? God I hope so. If this were so I would buy it without a doubt. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RELEASE ALL THREE STEPFATHER DVDS TOGETHER!

I saw this movie on TV years ago, and I was very impressed with the concept of comodoties.Unfortunately with power and money also comes responsibilities, but wasn't expecting murder. Two years ago, I saw a small article in the local newspaper that said that people have seen Ron Levin(the guy that Joe had killed) at restaurants and at the theatre. People claim that he was a con artist and that he faked his own death to put Joe away for life.

I enjoyed this horror flick. I think that Paul Sorvino as the Priest who knows what is happening is very strong. And Michael Beck playing a man with no soul does it VERY WELL. He is creepy when he kills his dog-(who also knows what's going on) and creepy in his approach to the women and how he makes things happen. He does sleazey really well. I thought the mother was probably the weakest character--she plays blind so long--but when she realizes the truth, her strength comes to fore. I enjoyed the overall darkness of this one.

When a Stranger Calls back was overall a well-done sequel that in some ways improves on the original, but in other ways it's also very inferior to the original. Like the original the opening act is simply brilliant. Each second the tension is raised until you are on the edge of your seat. While the opening act may not be as great as the original it is a very tense and edge of your seat thrill ride. After the opening act in the original it does slow down and can be a little boring in some areas, but I still think its better than most people give it credit for. Here in When a Stranger Calls Back the middle sections aren't as slow paced, but the problem is it lacks the eerie feel of the original.
