VHS : How The Grinch Stole Christmas
The Grinch was a great film if you're eight. But for everyone else it's okay. Granted, the sets were amazing, it has heart and Jim Carrey is brillaint but the film wasn't as funny I thought it could've been. The film is good family entertainment though.

VHS : Hellboy (Dol Slip)
This has a lot of oddball parts to it, but overall it's very good fun and a good way of spending a quiet evening in. There's some great lines and a lot of very entertaining visuals, with some good action too. Great!

VHS : Lisa
I saw the movie when i was a pre-teen, I loved it! I could totally identify with Lisa. My parent's wouldn't let me date, till I was out of the house...lol.

The movie rolled along at a natural pass, and the actors were believable.

I give the movie 5 stars.

So much better than all the schlock crap that is being peddled as "spoof" today. This is a truly funny movie. It will go down in history as setting a standard that has yet to be reached in its genre. Classic horror comedy at its finest!

VHS : Girl, Interrupted
While the fantastic performance of Ms. Jolie won an Oscar, deservedly, and jumpstarted her sensational career, the performance of Winona Ryder has somehow, and unjustly, been neglected- She is astonishingly good, sensitive, nuanced, and very brilliant in the lead role. The irony that amongst her words spoken in the film: ("Have you ever stolen something that you could completely afford to pay for?) appear, in real life, to have slowed down her career, seems unreasonably unfair. She is a great artist and one day hopefully will have an Oscar of her own. I feel she should have been nominated for this film, as should have Whoopi Goldberg, in quite a small but emotionally rich role. In addition, Vanessa Redgrave, though seen on film here for what has to be not quite 5 minutes, leaves an incredible impact, ... Read More

VHS : A House in the Hills
So -- I really REALLY like this movie. But not for the plot. It has a great idea...but then becomes rather cliche. Outside of Madsen, I think the acting is weak, the directing is okay, the writing could have been stronger. Michael Madsen -- as always -- is phenomenal. Understated and reserved, as I have typically seen in his work, I felt he made the film something worth sticking with. I wanted to see how his character developed and how he worked with this multi-faceted role that he brought more depth to than I saw with any of the other actors. For that alone I love the movie. With anyone else in the role of Mickey, I think the movie would not have held my interest.

VHS : Man Who Captured Eichmann
The foundational story, which is the 1961 capture of Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann by the Israeli Mossad, is engrossing. I thought the Argentine post WW II atmosphere was nicely created.

The weak link was Arliss Howard, who played the principal agent in the capture operation. Very, very weak. At one point during the mesmerizing dialogues that took place in the makeshift temporary "jail", I recall thinking what a shame it was that this lightweight actor was turning in such a shallow performance during this intimate and captivating interview of the infamous Eichmann. Then I had to remind myself that this wasn't Eichmann . . . it was Robert Duvall. Which brings us to the matter of Robert Duvall . . . .

Duvall deserved an Oscar for this. (I realize that this was a made-for-cable ... Read More

VHS : Jonny Quest vs. the Cyber Insects
This feature length movie was a made for cable release that originally aired on TNT in 1995. It is not to be confused with the original Jonny Quest series. The plot involves an attack on a space shuttle by a craft that is filled with giant insects that have been genetically modified. The Quest team gets involved in the fight, along with their new cyborg robot.

Let me in it's say that the movie is very fun to watch, once you get over the shock of "everything is changed" if you are a fan of the old series. But think of the Quest characters in an alternate dimension since it is a different show with some of the basic ideas intact, but different just the same. The bad guys were now over the top and melodramatic. Everybody is more... well, cartoony and closer to a typical action cartoon than the old show. But ... Read More

10.Robert Kennedy & His Times starring: Brad Davis, Veronica Cartwright, Cliff De Young, Ned Beatty, Beatrice Straight

VHS : Robert Kennedy & His Times
Brad Davis gives an uncannily believable and realistic performance as Robert Kennedy in this sentimental but mostly accurate film that does a great deal to capture both RFK and the spirit and political climate of the 1960's. A great film for anyone who needs a flavor for the man, or the times in which he lived.

G.D. Spradlin puts in a strong performance as Lyndon Johnson, whom the Kennedys viewed as an illegitmate usurper in the wake of JFK's assassination -- the tension between the two camps is faithfully recreated. Ned Beatty is passable as the Kennedy-hating J. Edgar Hoover, but Jack Warden and Cliff de Young are horribly miscast as Joe Kennedy, Sr. and JFK, respectively. Warden frankly doesn't look the part and fails to convey the domineering influence Old Joe had over his sons until the stroke that ... Read More
