I am not a great fan of 70's or 80's movies, but my sister is. She was very happy to get this one and she suggested me to watch it. What can I say- It was amazing how close to the truth it was. It tells one of those stories when sometimes in relationship love isn't enough preserve it. I once lived in small village in the country before my parents moved to the city and this movie amazingly close shows the environment in that village. How young people feel in such town, prejudices of society and so on, and now when I am looking back and think how it was- living back there I find that it is quite easy to imagine that such tragedy could have happened. I am not fan of tragic stories or stories with bad ending, but there are movies which doesn't leave you alone for days or even weeks. And I must ... Read More

I've seen this film several times and I always find it disturbing because it strikes me as classic Hollywood in that though the Civil War is central to the film, at no point is slavery ever mentioned. Which is to say that the film turns on the reconciliation of North and South and their mutual interests, which come to the fore as they are fighting Mexicans. Though I must say that the scene with Wayne and Hudson swigging bourbon as they recount the war is entertaining, ultimately, the film's unwillingness to explore the nature of their difference--which could be their differing notions of whether people should be property (albeit John Wayne's films generally portray his relations with people of color as paternalistic at best), is left unexplored, as if the Civil War was some kind of minor family ... "Perhaps not many of you have noticed that this movie is a "land-based" version of a previous film, starring Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner, called "On the Beach" (1959)."

No, it's not. It's based on the classic Roger Zelazney novel of the same name. It bears little to no resemblance to the book, which is unfortunate, since the book itself would make a hell of a movie. Even so, the film is still one of my all time favorites. I had a chance many years ago to buy the land cruiser used in the film. It would have cost 12 grand, but I estimated it would cost upward of 30 grand to fix it up and make it street legal, so i didn't buy it. I'm still kicking myself all these years later for not buying it.

VHS : Tribes
Tribes is certainly a period piece of 1970 with a strong liberal anti-establishment point of view. Today it seems dated and blase`, yet it still has a magnetic attraction to viewers whether veterans, active duty military, or civilians.

From a technical standpoint, there were some flaws (which seems inevitable in any hollywood production dealing with the military) and many ommissions about USMC boot camp (what happened to the long humps with helmet, flak jacket and packs, field exercises, bivuacking, etc?), but overall they got the flavor of boot camp correct. As a former US Marine Commissioned Officer, I never attended MCRD San Diego (I attended OCS Quantico, VA), but as an airline pilot I have flown into Lindbergh Field, San Diego, CA on many occasions and have seen the grinder, PT fields, ... Michael Keaton.Danny DeVito.Michelle Pfieffer.Christopher Walken.Four excellent actors together in one of the darkest takes on Batman:Batman Returns.Batman(Keaton)must rid Gotham City of the bizarre and sinister sewer-dwelling monster, Penguin(DeVito),the mysterious and sultry Catwoman(Pfieffer), and the CEO tycoon Max Shreck(Walken).

This obviously Tim Burton movie shows that Batman is the best from the flashy effects, dark settings, and eye-captivating plot, puts Batman Returns on one of the best batman movies(The Dark Knight was the best)in my eyes.Keaton obviously knows when he's got a good gig too!But I must warn parents that this movie is definatly PG-13 for a reason!(Very dark and scary for children under ten, especially DeVito's Penguin)!

Unbelievebly great movie. One of the best movie I have ever seen. Done with great actors. It is well done and leave aside the bloody scenes of the war which we do not need to see and appreciate not seeing. The movie has been very appreciated by the family because of the excellent performance of the actors and the very good script.

If you don't expect a lot from a B-thriller you could spend 90 minutes enjoying Tanya Roberts' nice curves. However, all Tanya's fans who want to see "more" of her (with some better acting too) should watch "Almost Pregnant". For those who want to see two actresses in a beautifully performed steamy scene, watch "Gia" (with Angelina Jolie & Elizabeth Mitchell) instead.

It was a bold move to picture some of fellow Americans as our enemies. But this is the sad truth. Gangsters and inside terrorists ARE dangerous to honest citizens. This movie depicts this danger in vivid details.

VHS : Hit List (1991)
As with any film starring Jan-Michael Vincent (Airwolf), it's got action. But he's not the main provider in this low-budget gem. Lance Henriksen (Aliens) is the man to watch. He walks the wild side as a psychopath who sells ladies shoes. He rarely speaks and doesn't need to. His violent actions and extreme appearance make it unnecessary. He's a real treat to follow. Leo Rossi (Relentless) is his usual cocky self as a mafia lieutenant snagged for the grand jury. Extra class is Rip Torn (Cross Creek) as the mafia don. The film is full of familiar character actor faces and delivers a good time. Worth watching and owning.

Jan Michael Vincent at his worst! Terrible acting (not just Vincent but all the cast), lousy music score and sound effects! One half hour into it was all I could take! This one went into the round file without any regrets!
