VHS : Death Dream
I LOVE THIS MOVIE. YOU REALLY FEEL THE ANGER AND RESENTMENT CHRISTOPHER REEVE'S CHARACTER HAS AGAINST HIS STEP DAUGHTER. I THOUGHT BOTH HE AND HELGENBERG PLAYED THE PARTS SO WELL. THE SORROW THE MOTHER FEELS FOR HER DEAD DAUGHTER IS FELT SO GUTRENCHING. THE END IS WONDERFULLY DONE ALSO. IT PROVES THAT A BOND BETWEEN MOTHER AND CHILD IS NEVER BROKEN EVEN IN DEATH. I GIVE IT ALL FIVE STARS.

The Jean Claude Van Damme Review Matrix (JCVD-RM)

1. Who is he? He's Detective Louis Burke, who goes undercover as a prisoner in a penitentiary with a lot of unexplained deaths.
2. Which family member/friend must be avenged? His partner was murdered by a maniac named Sandman.
3. Does he take his shirt off? Not only does the Sandman homoerotically remove Louis' shirt in the shower, but in the climactic final battle, Louis is pressed up against an iron furnace door. Naturally, this singes the shirt to smithereens, and Sandman kindly removes the rest. Sandman has clearly been in prison too long.
4. Does he have sex with a C-List actress? Unless there was a deleted scene with his cellmate, I don't think so.
5. Is there a tournament? As far as I'm concerned, being in general ... Read More

VHS : It's a Great Feeling
This movie will be on TCM on Thurs., 4-3 @ 10AM!!

Joan Crawford has a very rare cameo (perhaps the only cameo of her professional career, besides "Hollywood Canteen") in this late 40's Warners picture. It's somewhat of a spoof of the grand Hollywood-like movies of the Golden Era. Joan mocks herself in a comical way in her brief scene. She came across as very funny and believable because she was really just being herself in this movie. If you're a Joan Crawford fan or a fan of 40's cinema then I certainly recommend this Technicolor classic.

VHS : No Mercy
Richard Gere is the tough Chicago cop who goes to the Big Easy to track down the killer of his partner. This killer is a much feared hood in New Orleans named Losado. While down there Gere runs into Kim Basinger, a "slave" of Losado's, and he becomes determined to free her as well as kill Losado. This is all very typical thriller fare, although it can be pretty suspenseful at times--especially in the bayous and, of course, the big ending where Gere gets his man in a nail-biting shoot out and fire. But after you've seen this, ask yourself the next day how much you can remember. Note: There's a scene in the picture that's stolen directly from Hitchcock's "The 39 Steps": Gere and Basinger are handcuffed together as they make their escape through the swamps.
