VHS : Sleeping Beauty (Disney)
For some reason, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but I'm really not into Sleeping Beauty. I adore Disney movies and have seen pretty much every one, with the exception of a couple. This does not rank high on my list. The story never really interested me, the music was just OK. It came as a bit old fashioned for me.
That said, It's certainly not a bad movie by any means, just not as enjoyable as some of the other brilliant ones out there.

VHS : Maisy: Maisy's Colors & Shapes
My 2 year old loves, loves, LOVES this video. That being said, the video is misnamed. There is one short story about colors and nothing about shapes. What you will find are several short stories and a few cute Maisy music videos. This is a very fun video, but only somewhat educational. Consider it like a collection of clips you would see on the Maisy TV show.

I watched this film after reading "Bird by Bird" and "Hard Laughter" and found that Anne Lamott was just as I expected her to be...funny, sentimental, sometimes emotional, caring, loving, kind, passionate and considerate. She truly is a beautiful person who has grown through pain and talks very candidly about her faith and what it takes to get to a place in one's life where it feels good to be alive. I laughed and I cried when watching this video and really appreciated her honesty about the things she has struggled with. She has a lot of strength.

I recommend this film and ALL of her work. Brilliant.

VHS : Three Secrets
An interesting tale and an early directorial effort from Robert Wise. When a young boy is the sole survivor of a mountain plane crash, three women begin to wonder if he's the child each gave up for adoption. While waiting for the news, the women all look back on their lives. We discover the reasons behind their decisions to give their sons up, and what their lives have been like up to this point. This is similar in some ways to the plot device used in A Letter to Three Wives, which also deals with the pasts of three women, however this film is much more somber in tone. It doesn't have the crackling, witty dialogue, which made Wives so memorable. The suspense is quite good, with all three stars doing excellent work here. It's fun seeing Eleanor Parker, Patricia Neal, and Ruth Roman all of whom would ... Read More

VHS : Full of Life
A delightful, genuinely heartwarming comedy, starring Judy Holliday and Richard Conte as a young couple about to have a child, yet still struggling to define what their family life will mean to them, and Salvatore Baccaloni as Conte's broadly portrayed Italian Papa. Fans of Judy Holliday will love this film -- she leaves her "dumb blonde" character aside in favor of a much richer role; she gets some great comedic moments in early on, acting out the clumsiness and moodiness of late-term pregnancy, yet also portrays a smart, intuitive young woman who provides the rational and emotional glue which holds her family together. There are a lot of subtle touches to this film; nothing is overplayed or hackneyed, and although it is set in the white-picket fence era of the early '50s, the issues addressed in the script ...
